This year’s main event concert at the Clark County Fair will be country western band “Restless Heart” performing on Thursday night on the Plaza Stage.

One of the largest local events of the year is upon us once again. Tomorrow starts the 2012 Clark County Fair.

We’ve kept you informed of the preparations these last few weeks and told you what activities and attractions are worth a look, but there’s even more that we weren’t able to cover. So for this last pre-fair article, we wanted to get you excited for all the entertainment on stage.

Starting with the big event happening at the Plaza Stage, the main event concert featuring country western band Restless Heart will be on Thursday April 12 at 8:30 p.m. Comprising five members and a few awards and top hits, this group is prepared to keep your toes tapping and your hands clapping. However, this is a ticketed event, so if you’re interested, call now to see if any tickets are left.

Other shows on the Plaza stage include the Copper Mountain Band, a high energy, country music band; the usual comedy hypnosis show featuring Marc Savard; DSB, America’s favorite tribute to Journey; Alfred & Seymour Breakdance Comedy Show, you might have seen them on the “Tonight Show” or Nickelodeon’s “Kenan and Kel”; and Freddy Fusion, a science magic show.

If any of these strike an interest with you, I suggest you keep good track of the time while you wander the fair. They will each only be on stage two or three times a day and hypnotist Marc Savard and DSB will not have shows on Thursday at all. See the full Fair Schedule published in this edition of the Progress for more times.

The Midway stage will be hosting POWERHOUSE!!! this year. As best said from their website, this dance group “combine(s) brilliantly innovative tap, precision clogging, and explosive stomp to bring you an electrifying dance experience.” And they don’t just dance; they entertain, drawing the audience to join in.

Oh, but of course, many of you with kids have other priorities centered around the Midway stage. The Cinderella Pageant will happen there at 5:00 p.m. sharp on Thursday. On Friday the Elite Dance Academy will perform at 4:00 p.m., the MV Children’s Choir at 5:00 p.m., and the Vegas Valley Cloggers at 6:00. Saturday will be bustling. Some of the shows then will be Belly Dance Fusion (noon), Kifaru Karate (3 p.m.), Moapa Valley Cheer (3:30 p.m.), and Brenda’s Dance Studio (5 p.m.), among many others. And finally, Sunday will include Trammel Dance Studio (noon), St. John’s Ballet Folklorico (3 p.m.), and In Harmony (4 p.m.).

Finally, keep an eye out, as various shows are scattered over the entirety of the grounds. This includes a theatrical circus duo, the Super Science Company, Swifty Swine, Fables of the West, train rides, a Frisbee dog show and, of course, Mutton Bustin’ twice a day.

There’s plenty to keep fairgoers entertained, and no two shows are exactly alike so you can even see some more than once. Have fun at the Fair!
