MVHS Track Competes At Desert Pines Meet

Last week the Pirate track and field teams travelled to Desert Pines for their weekly meet where they competed against Green Valley and Desert Pines.

Shelbie Gray threw the Discus 100 feet 5 inches to win the girls discus and set her personal best throw.

Freshman Emily Mills won two events including the 800 meters and the 300 hurdles.

Ashley Noto placed second in the 300 hurdles.

Emma Eira placed second in the high jump with a height of 4-10 while Makenzie Bush placed 3rd with a height of 4-6.

Bethany Sprague and Claire Seydoux tied for second in the pole vault with 7 foot performances.

Malary Reed placed 1st in the long jump with a distance of 14 feet 5 inches.

The girls shotput was moved to later as the meet was ending due to a conflict with field space. Moapa went home before the event could even started due to the meet being on a school night.

On the boys side, Skyler Hill finished 6th in the 100 meters out of the 48 competitors.

Cody Johnson finished 5th in the 400 meters.

Austin Prisbrey was 4th in the 800 meter as Jeremy Waite finished seventh both were sandwiched between Green Valley runners in the placing.

Tyler Zobrist finished 6th in the 3200 meters.

Sean McConnell was 3rd and Jackson Mortenson and Pace Maughan were tied for 5th in the 110 meter hurdles.

Sean McConnell was also 2nd in the 300 hurdles.

The boys 4X200 relay was second as was the 4X400 and the 4X800.

Kyler Leavitt was 6th in the shotput as Cody Tolbert finished 7th.

In the boys discus Kris Postma finished 4th.

Brandon Johnson finished 2nd in the high jump and triple jump then won the long jump.

Tanner Goodrich, Jackson Mortenson and Cody Johnson all finished tied for 4th in the long jump.

Justin Boren won the pole vault with Skyler Hill finishing 2nd and Caleb Witsken finished tied for 4th.
