When Spring Valley came to Moapa Valley last Wednesday for a softball game they were in fourth place in the Southwest League behind Gorman, Durango and Desert Oasis. When they left Moapa Valley they were still in fourth but had another win in the overall column at 9-8.

The Grizzles had very little trouble dispatching the Pirates as they beat Moapa 15-2.

The scoring started early as Spring Valley opened the game with 4 runs in the first inning. The first four hitters reached base.

Moapa followed with 1 of their own in the bottom of the first when McCall Smith singled and was advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. She scored on a Spring Valley error.

Spring Valley returned with 7 in the 2nd with a triple, a double, a single, two walks and two Pirate errors to blow open the game.

The Grizzles only had seven hits against Frei, but the 6 errors cost Moapa dearly.

Spring Valley scored 1 in the third and 2 in the 4th building a 14-1 lead before Moapa would score again. Rachel Dalley scored after another error by Spring Valley in the bottom of the 4th.

A single run for Spring Valley gave the Grizz their final total 15-2.

Moapa had problems hitting the ball as they had only three hits for the game and left 6 runners on base. The Pirates will be at Canyon Springs this week. Canyon Springs is 2-10 this season.
