This historic photo, of the members of the Overton Ward taken around 1901, will be on display as well as many others at the LDS Logandale Stake 100th anniversary celebration to be held at the Logandale Fairgrounds on Saturday evening. All are invited.

The Clark County Fairgrounds will be buzzing with excitement on Saturday, April 28 as the LDS Logandale Stake celebrates its 100th anniversary since being established. There event will offer the chance to see and learn many things about the history of the community and the opportunity to get reacquainted with old friends. Visiting, connecting with relatives, and learning the history of the stake and families is an important part of this free event.

A series of ethno-dramas depicting moments in Logandale Stake history will start the evening off at 4:00 p.m. and continue until 8:00. There will be eight dramas total. Seven of these were performed at the St. Thomas Alive event in March.

One new drama about the commencement of the Logandale Stake will also be featured. Melanie Gifford wrote seven of the drama’s, and one was taken from the play ‘One For The Muddy’ written by Ron Dalley.

Kenna Dalley is the director of the ethno dramas. She said, “The drama’s will be a little different because they are in a different place,” said ethno-drama director, Kenna Dalley. “It will be interesting to see how it goes without all the dust and the atmosphere of St. Thomas.”

Many in the community are involved in the ethno-dramas. Approximately 50 actors that have memorized lines and practiced for months in advance will participate.

There will also be several other activities and displays to choose from. The various wards in the Logandale stake have each selected a decade in the last 100 years. They will play music and have games that represent that era. These will be located on the grass of the fair grounds.

Families can also choose to look at displays in the Fine Arts and Livestock Buildings. In the Livestock Building, there will be a history of each ward in the Logandale Stake on display.

Dinner will be served at 5:00 in the Fine Arts Building and will go until 7:00. Also exhibited in the Fine Arts Building will be a timeline and pictures of all the Stake Presidents that have served in the Logandale Stake the last 100 years.

After dinner is over and the ethno-drama’s are winding down, Stake President Matt Messer will give closing remarks. After Pres. Messer is finished the youth will host a dance in the Fine Arts Building. The youth invite everyone to stay and dance with them.

A time capsule will be buried at a later date in the Heritage Park located behind the LDS Hinckley Chapel. It is to be uncovered in another 50 or 100 years. Each of the wards are putting together pictures and things that represent them. People can bring items to put into the time capsule at the 100 Year Celebration event.
