The Moapa Valley High School Theatre performed last week in a production of Getting Away with Murder directed by MVHS Drama Instructor, Kenna Dalley.

The girls in the show were double casted. The senior girls participated on Tuesday and Thursday, while the underclassmen girls acted on Monday and Wednesday.

The play portrayed a group of psychiatric patients who all come to an evening group session. When the doctor doesn’t show up they become worried. Eventually they find him murdered on the couch in his office.

Who could have committed this murder? The patients decided that the murderer had to be one of them and the play goes through an exciting discovery of who it is.

After the Thursday night performance, Dalley handed out awards and thanked the audience for coming.

“It took 40 kids to put the show together” she said. “This was a technically difficult show, and the kids are amazing.”

Dalley presented the Drama M award to kids that have been in drama for three years, were in two major productions, and played a big drama role.

Seniors that participated in Theatre Tech for 3 years received a pin for their gown on graduation. These included Pamela Mecham, Sydney Curtis, Tessa Atkinson, and Nathan Beckstrand. Seniors that participated in Theatre for four years also received a pin. These included Kameron Moore and Sierra Staley. The Tech awards went to Pamela Mecham and Nathan Beckstrand. Directors Choice went to Sierra Staley for dedication and hard work to theatre. The two Best Actor awards were given to Dallin Watkins and Kameron Moore.

“This has been my favorite play,” said Kameron Moore who has been in theatre four years. “I like it when everyone finds out that Martin is the killer.”

“My favorite part of the play was the set because I designed it,” said senior Pamela Mecham. “I like doing Tech because it is fun, and I wanted to learn how to do lights and other things.”

Mecham said that she will probably take a couple of Tech classes in college.
