Moapa Valley High School Girls Softball team played in three games last week. They ended up 0-3 for the week.

On Thursday, Moapa travelled to Legacy High School where the ladies were beaten 15-3.

For the Longhorns Kiani Elia-Mendiola went 3-for-3 with two triples and seven RBIs to lead the Longhorns. Her teammate Alysia Santos was 3-for-4 with four RBIs as the two of them were responsible for 11 of the 15 Longhorn runs.

Moapa scored three runs in the fifth inning and had two hits in the loss. Chanel Lacroix got the loss allowing 12 hits and 15 runs. Defensively the Pirates were without any errors.

On Friday the Pirates were in Boulder City where they were beaten by the top ranked Eagles 19-1 and 18-1.

Boulder City had a 15 run 3rd inning in the first game and a 10 run 2nd inning in the 2nd game to seal both of the Eagles wins. Ali Rants was 4-for-5 with three RBIs. Jessie Holling was 3-for-5 for Boulder City in the first game.

Boulder City star pitcher Karlee Koopman tossed a three-hitter in the first game keeping the Pirates guessing at the plate. In the second game Koopman went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. She combined with team mate Shayla Bennett who was 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs to lead the Eagles. The Eagles Taylor McKeever finished 7-for-8 with two doubles in the doubleheader as she helped set the tone.

Moapa will try to rebound from last week as they will host their final games of the season. The first is against Sunrise Mountain. Then on Friday the Lady Pirates will go up against Virgin Valley for second place in the region.

Moapa and Virgin Valley have played three times this season as the Pirates blew out the Bulldogs in Mesquite 26-6. Then split a double header 5-10 and 12-10 to the Dawgs also in Mesquite last month. This double header will have no bearing except for who bats first or last when they meet in next week’s region tournament in Boulder City.
