Roger Marquez
Jose Rogelio “Roger” Marquez, 23, died May 12, 2012, in Overton, Nevada. He was born July 22, 1988 to Jose Marquez and Maria Soccorro Alvarado in Odessa, Texas.
Roger moved to Moapa, NV in 1994 where he attended Perkins Elementary, Mack Lyon Middle School and graduated from Moapa Valley High School. In high school he excelled in soccer. He had a great zest for life and enjoyed the outdoors, music, 4 wheeling and being with friends and family.
Survivors include his father, Jose (Lupe) Marquez of Odessa, TX; his mother, Socorro Alvarado of Mesquite, NV; grandmother Basilisa Sifuentes of El Paso, TX; one brother and six sisters: Vianna Urrutia of Huntington Beach, CA; Marcella Urrutia of St. Paul, MN; Erika (Vernon) Lee of Moapa, NV; Efren (Belinda) Urrutia of Austin, TX; Vanessa (Sean) Thaher of Irvine, CA; Marissa (Ricardo) Reynoso of Hobbs, NM; Mayra Alvarado of Mesquite, NV; half brothers and sister: Jose Marquez Jr., Joel Marquez, and Marissa Marquez.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary and again one hour prior to services at the chapel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Moapa Christian Chapel, #5 Bowlin St. on the Moapa Indian Reservation. Interment will follow in the Mesquite Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.
