Once again the Moapa Valley community is working together to support a local family that is in financial need. A benefit dinner for 24 year old Billy Nicols will be held at the Old Logandale School on Saturday July 21 starting at 5:00 pm..

Nicols was in a dirt bike accident on Sunday, June 1 and sustained some injuries including a broken hand and several compressed disks in his back.

These injuries are keeping Nicols from being able to work for the next few months.

Since he can not support his wife and two young girls at this time, Reida Uri and Cathy Reid are organizing a dinner to raise money for their nephew.

“We want to raise enough to get a couple months rent for their family,” Uri said.

Previously Nicols worked at Las Vegas Paving, he is hoping to get his job back when he is recovered.

There has been one other fundraiser for the Nicols family. At the dinner of the 4th of July celebration, the Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce set out tip jars and auctioned off leftover meat. This raised over $400 for the family.

Saturday’s benefit dinner will be a spaghetti dinner. Most of the up front expenses will be paid for by Uri and Reid. Lins Marketplace will be donating French bread and water, according to Uri.

At the dinner there will be music and karaoke as well as a raffle. Raffle tickets are being sold for $2 per ticket or get the special deal, 6 tickets for $5. The raffle is filled with items that would interest a variety of people. Overton Ace Hardware donated a shotgun, Sugars donated dinner lunch and breakfast for 2, there is a Park Lane Jewelry set that will be raffled off. Movie tickets for a family of 4 plus soda and popcorn, a dinner at the Muddy River, Beezy Tobiason donated a set of her Muddy River Reflections books for the raffle. Maverick donated a $25 gas card, and an oil painting by a local artist will be included.

To donate or buy tickets contact Reida Uri at 397-2484. Come to the dinner to support this family in need.
