Arts Council To Close 2013 Season With “Cellar Door”

Moapa Valley Progress

Cellar Door, Original and vintage acoustic music. Steve, Jeannie & Larry Vincent.

The Moapa Valley Performing Arts Council wraps up this season with a performance by ‘Cellar Door’. This group; consisting of Larry Vincent, his wife Jeannie, and his brother Steve Vincent; features the unique sounds of original and vintage acoustic music.

“Returning to Moapa Valley is always a thrill for us,” said Larry Vincent. “Some of the dearest people we have ever known were part of our Moapa Valley years. Two of our three boys were born while residing in Overton and here we are, full circle, singing the vintage music that brought us together many years ago.”.

Larry was born in Ogden, Utah and raised in Denver. He has always been interested in music and singing. He pursued music as a career and received his degree in Music Education from Brigham Young University (1973) and a Master of Music from Northern Arizona University (1977).

After leaving Overton (1978), Larry and Jeannie moved to Michigan. Larry received his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and began his opera career in New York City with the Boris Goldovsky Opera Company.

In 1982, the family relocated to Trier, Germany where Larry was the house tenor for 5 years. He spent the next 10 years in Vienna, Austria singing lead tenor roles in the Vienna Volksopera and the Vienna State Opera.

His solo concert tours have taken him to virtually all the European countries, Scandinavia, Turkey, Israel, Japan, China, Korea, Africa, Australia and the United States. His repertoire includes major roles in over 45 different operas and operettas with more than 1200 stage appearances to his credit. For the past 15 years, he has been a professor and head of the opera program at Brigham Young University.

Jeannie was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended Brigham Young University, graduating with a degree in Music Education. She has taught music in public and private schools, established a private vocal studio in Germany and Austria and conducted American and international children’s and adult choirs.

In addition to her musical accomplishments, she is the mother of three living sons, an angel daughter and ten drop-dead gorgeous grandchildren.

Jeannie made her international opera debut as Emmy in Benjamin Britten’s “Albert Herring” in 1986 and for the last 35 years, has performed classical music extensively with her husband all around the world.

Steve is a child of the golden age of television and rock and roll. He remembers well that historical evening in February 1964 when the family tuned in the Ed Sullivan Show to watch the Beatles. That year Steve had taken up his instrument of choice – the drums (sorry Mom and Dad). He later moved on to banjo and finally guitar.

Don’t miss this season closer on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ron Dalley Theatre at Moapa Valley High School.Ticket prices for this performance are $8 adults, $6 seniors and students, and $30 for a family.
