A popular sight at the Clark County Fair is the Agriculture Building and this year shouldn’t be any exception. The folks in charge of the display there, once known as the Small Animal exhibit, have broadened the horizons to include much more than small animals.

Local residents Kaluna and Jenifer Aki have been placed in charge of gathering all these organizations together to find ways of teaching people who come wandering into the building what agriculture is all about.

“We try to help people out with anything they need concerning agriculture,” Kaluna Aki said.

The Nevada, and Clark County Farm Bureau will be setting up a booth in the building, along with the Young Farmers and Ranchers. They will be playing games with kids teaching about where their food comes from, and what is farmed here in Nevada.

The Young Farmers and Ranchers organization will be inviting folks to get hands-on experience milking a plastic cow. There will also be a kids’ garden where children can dig up plants and take them home with them. The Nevada Dairy Council and Nevada Beef Council will be on site to teach people about their avenues of agriculture as well. The Nevada Dairy Council will be giving interesting dairy facts as well as allowing people to do some butter carving.

The Agriculture Building will have its traditional display of chickens, ducks and rabbits. Last year there was a bottle-fed baby calf. That baby calf has grown up and will be on display at the fair once again.

The folks from Quail Hollow Farms in Overton will be bringing their impressive display of goats, rabbits, and bees.

Every year RC Farms brings in one of their sows with her piglets for the crowd to admire. Clark County 4 H will have a display of the many projects their members have worked hard on.

Activities and agriculture demonstrations will be going on in the Agriculture Building throughout the Fair so make a point to go in and check it out!
