A group of local Cub Scouts celebrated Pioneer Day by a visit to the Old Logandale School on Wednesday morning, July 24. The boys from Logandale Cub Scout Pack 26 learned about the history of the Moapa Valley community from Beezy Tobiasson, President of the Old Logandale School Historical and Cultural Society (OLSHACS).

Overton resident, Kurt Lytle found himself in a bit of a predicament a few months ago when his prized 1989 Jeep Wrangler became swallowed up by the Virgin River.
Overton Medical Clinic will be re-opening its doors on August 1, after five months of being closed. The local medical practice was closed suddenly on February 22 of this year with no notice to its patient base or the community. The practice will be opening tomorrow with a new doctor taking appointments to see patients.
Local artist, Ron Casey, will be exhibiting his art and photography at the Wild Horse Gallery in downtown Overton beginning next Wednesday, August 7. The public is invited to an open house event at the gallery between 2-4 p.m. on that day to enjoy some light refreshments, view the exhibit and meet the artist.

The Overton Park baseball field has, in the last few years, become a mass of dead grass, dirt and weeds. It is atrocious that the county has let this park go.
Every week a group of us play sports at the park; but it has become so bad that we would be better off to play out in the desert.
So, while Overton park turns into a desolate dirt and weed patch, Moapa is building two new soccer fields with succulent grass and state-of-the art watering system.
Two Metro officers who reside in the Moapa Valley were awarded with the Medal Of Honor for their performance during a horrific house fire incident in Las Vegas last September. These two were part of a larger group of six officers who received the award during a ceremony on Friday, July 19 for responding to this incident.

Charles D. Jensen, better known as Chuck or grandpa, died peacefully July 20, 2013 in his home in Overton Nevada. He was born August 3, 1925.
