The students involved in the Moapa Valley High School Drama Department are excited to present their spring production of “Peter Pan.”

This play promises to be an enthralling musical full of scurvy pirates, singing mermaids, and dancing Indians! And to add to the fun, the lost boys love to improvise. MVHS Drama Director Mrs. Valorie Soltis says that she never knows what they’re going to do next!

“It’s always a surprise to me,” she said, “which makes it even more fun.”

The show will be different every night with this comical bunch, Soltis said.

The casting for the show is practically perfect. Peter Pan will be played by MVHS senior, Zach Waite. Waite says that Peter is probably his favorite role out of all of the roles he has played in his four years of high school theater.

Pan’s partner in crime, Tinker Bell, will be played by sophomore Rachle Lee. Even though Tinker Bell doesn’t speak, her actions are plenty loud.

Senior Lauren Bessey will be playing the part of Wendy Darling. Lauren’s glowing face lights up the stage every time she enters.

Her brothers John and Michael will be played by Jason Zerkle and Austin Vann respectively.

Finally, Peter Pan’s arch-nemesis Captain Hook will be played by an intimidating Salvador Navaro (senior).

Mrs. Soltis said that she has really enjoyed working with this group of kids this year. This has been her first year teaching at MVHS. She previously taught English classes, and then theater, at a high school in New Zealand.

Showtimes for “Peter Pan” will be at 7 pm running April 2– 5 in the Ron Dalley Theater at MVHS. Presale tickets cost $7 for adults, $5 for students/seniors, and $20 for families of 4/each additional household member $5. Tickets bought at the door will all cost $7. Tickets will be sold at Lin’s. Theater students will also be selling presale tickets.
