As a former Marine and Vietnam veteran, it is very difficult for me to watch Cliven Bundy and his armed supporters brazenly insult the American flag and denounce the government of the USA, seemingly without consequence. As a sportsman who often visits the Lake Mead Recreation Area to camp and fish, it is very difficult for me to understand the benefits of allowing Mr. Bundy’s cattle to destroy the habitat surrounding the lake.
Cliven Bundy’s acts in declaring a “range war,” and in confronting agents of the United States with armed force is clearly in contempt of court, certainly violates more than one criminal statute, and absolutely makes him an enemy of the USA. Senator Harry Reid is right, Mr. Bundy and his armed supporters are not “patriots,” they are a domestic terrorists.
It is beyond time for the Court’s order removing Mr. Bundy’s cattle from public lands to be enforced, and for the self-identified, anti-government militia members to go back home.
