Don Grady

Donald Horace Grady, age 87, died Monday, June 30, 2014 in Weston, Wisconsin while visiting friends during the Hodaq Country Festival. He was born August 6, 1926 in Merritt, Illinois to Joseph Horace and Armenta Armella Fernandes Grady. On November 11, 1958 he married Beverly Jean Rayborn in Literberry, Illinois. She preceded him in death on March 20, 2007.

Don grew up in Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Don worked in the Power Generation Industry. His knowledge and experience was utilized in the start up of many different new plants, which allowed him to live in many different places, including Memphis, Arizona, Las Vegas, Moapa and Colstrip, Montana. He retired to Moapa, Nevada.

He was very patriotic and enjoyed helping the American Legion and VFW to post flags for the holidays. He enjoyed making life long friends at the Hodaq Country Festival which he attended periodically since 1986. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and was grateful to be honored as the Grand Marshall of Veterans Day Parade in Overton, Nevada.

Don is survived by his daughter Debbie (Terry) Olson of Colstrip, MT; son Shawn (Teri) Grady of Moapa, NV; two grandchildren, Cameron Grady and Jillian Olson; one brother, Melvin (Irene) Grady of IL, one sister, Darlene Harold of Jacksonville, IL and brother in law Bob (Linda) Rayburn of Danville, IL.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 11, 2014 at 6 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Moapa Chapel. Friends and family are invited to sign an online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com.

  1. I enjoyed working with Don in 2006. And, I counted him as one of my favorite people met during my working life.
    During our brief working relationship I fondly remember sitting together at his home sharing life stories. He was truly a great guy to spend time with.
