Kathi Cooper, Vice President of the Moapa Valley Revitalization Project (MVRP), said that she was delighted to come home from her July vacation to find the annex building behind the tank had a fresh coat of paint. Cooper said she had talked to John Stastny of Clark County Parks and Recreation about getting the building painted last winter. MVRP had been talking to local businesses about showing community pride and felt the annex building should show that as well.
Stastny affirmed that he put in the work order to have the building painted at the request of someone from MVRP. He agreed that the building was in need of a new paint job.
Stastny said that Bill O’Hara, the painter for Real Property Management, did all of the work. He stripped, sanded, and washed the building before he painted it. Stastny said that O’Hara borrowed the pressure sprayer from the fairgrounds. It took him two weeks to clean the building and one week to paint it. Stastny said that O’Hara started work the week following the 4th of July.
“I think it looks fantastic,” Cooper said. “I can’t wait for Veteran’s Day. There are quite a few people who take pictures in front of the tank, and now it’s something to be proud of.”
