LETTER: We Love M.V. Veterans Day Celebration

Our family recently moved to the Moapa Valley community. Since that time, we have truly fallen in love with this little town, with its good people and its unique traditions and practices.

A favorite among all of these is the Veterans Day Parade which was held last week. There are not many little towns out there that still observe such a sincere and thorough recognition of its veterans.

We love that so much of the community lines the main street of Overton to watch this small town parade. We love how well the parade seemed to be coordinated, running smoothly and easily. We loved that so many businesses and organizations participated and supported the parade. We loved that the local Chamber of Commerce sponsored a picnic where the whole community could gather and have a meal together in the park. And the attention and tribute that this community paid to its veterans was truly admirable.

In a world where the real significance of a holiday like Veterans Day seems to be entirely forgotten, that meaning is still alive and well in Moapa Valley.

We thank the local Veteran’s organizations for putting on the parade for the community. Thanks also to the Chamber for all of its efforts. And, most of all, thanks to all of those who have fought and served this great country.

God Bless small town America!

Sheldon Worley
