It seems to me that the Clark County School District, and the School Board, are not in sync with what Nevada Law, and common sense, dictate when it comes to education.
Chris Garvey, CCSD Trustee, District B, seems to be making more guesses, as stated by not doing what appears to be needed research before speaking on a subject (A Response Regarding Charter Schools: Progress Feb. 18, 2015).
Now the governor is proposing to become the Dictator for all schools in the State of Nevada, even taking away the right of the citizens of Nevada to elect School Board Members. That seems about as sensible as most things that come out of the “minds” of politicians.
If the Governor wants to become the Absolute Dictator of all things educational in Nevada, is he willing to take his proposal to the citizens for a vote, or to elicit a change in the State Constitution?
With his, and the CCSD “thinking” why not turn education in Nevada over to the U.S. Department of Education? I’m sure they would do a bang-up job of ruining education in Nevada much faster than the Governor or CCSD.
Maybe it is time for you citizens of Nevada to do away with the State education bureaucracy and go back a century, or so, and have all local school districts, with all taxing and control within the community where the schools exist. The local control of schools would certainly eliminate much that is dictated by CCSD and Carson City.
As I live in The Great Republic of Texas, I have no say in what Nevada does. But I know when something is wrong, which Nevada’s Education System is. It is time to correct it.
