As summer is drawing to a close the Moapa Valley Library treated kids to the annual DJ Dance Party on Friday, Aug. 7. This event served as the finale for the summer reading program that children enjoyed every Friday throughout the summer.
Located at the Overton Community Center, techno music could be heard from all the way out on the sidewalk as attendees approached and prepared to dance their hearts out. The kids enjoyed playing with hula hoops and beach balls as they ran around the dimly lit room highlighted with strobe lights provided along with the music by DJ Thread.
While many enjoyed the experience, smaller children were apprehensive about the commotion and could be heard saying, “I’m scared”, and crying at the loud volume of music they were unaccustomed to.
In contrast, mini young cheerleaders, a little bit older, practiced dance routines and thrived in the environment ideal for a dance party.
While the party put an end to summer story time, children’s library activities will resume in the fall and dates and times will be posted on the Moapa Valley Library Facebook page.
