Have you ever wanted to write your life story but been at a loss as to where to start? Have you ever sat down to start only to realize you had no idea how to put all of your stories onto paper? You are not alone.

Starting to record one’s own personal history or the story of one’s family can be an overwhelming family history task. But after helping others record their histories, one local family realized that almost everyone needs help at some point or another.

To provide that help, Logandale residents Ben and Hilarie Robison have started a business called Legacy Tale that is devoted to helping people record their personal and family histories.

The Robisons offer a variety of ways to help people write their stories. For those that just need a little help and direction, their Guided Tale offers weekly assignments and motivation to complete your own history in one year. For people who are more overwhelmed by the whole process, there are Legacy Tale comprehensive packages that take care of everything.
“We conduct interviews, scan and caption photos, transcribe, edit, layout and prepare the manuscript for printing,” said Hilarie Robison of their comprehensive packages. “Once you approve the manuscript, we even manage the printing process for you.”

Their help makes the process about as painless as it can be. In the end, a beautiful recorded personal or family history results; a document that will be treasured through generations to come.

The Robisons are not new to writing and to helping people out. Hilarie has been writing for more than twenty years. Ben specializes in the technology part of the business
“We really wanted this to be a family enterprise,” Hilarie said. “We both have our talents, but working together is what makes it successful.”

Hilarie calls herself the founder, owner, and the Chief Teller of Tales in the business. She graduated summa cum laude from Brigham Young University and has a masters degree in Ethics and Policy Studies. She loves to write and has been writing and winning awards with her writing ever since high school.

But she realized that her written words didn’t leave a legacy when she worked in corporate arenas.
“Now I’m thrilled to help others use words in giving meaning to a life well lived, to help good people recall the past and reflect on the present, to capture and preserve tales of legacy,” she said. “I used to seek inspiration for the words in my head. Now the words come from others telling their tales. Now the words inspire me.”

Ben helps her out by being the “founder, owner, the Head Magician, and the Teller of Tall Tales.”
“I’ve spent 19-some-odd years working in the computer and IT industry,” Ben explained. “Technology has changed a little in that time. Like most computer geeks, no one really understood what I did, so I have found it easier (and usually more amusing – to me at least) to say I practiced magic. A few years ago, I started sourcing and selling physical products on the Internet and doing some Internet marketing. I found it was fun and I was pretty good at it. However, it’s a skill that, like IT, is somewhat unfamiliar, so ‘magician’ still works.”

The Robison family is excited about their new family business. They feel it will be something that can really make a difference in people’s lives.
“If you already have some or all of your history complete, and want help with specific tasks, we offer those services as well,” Hilarie said. “We can edit existing manuscripts, handle the layout, or assist with publishing.”
