I-15 Construction Advisories

New Exit 118 Construction
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) announced earlier this week there would be a left shoulder restriction north and southbound along Interstate-15 in Mesquite ongoing through Friday this week each day from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. The restriction takes place 3,000 feet in each direction from Milepost 117.5, according to NDOT officials.
The closure is need in order to set-up barrier rails and pour median bridge footings as part of the construction of a new Mesquite I-15 interchange at Milepost 118.
Motorists should use caution while travelling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate routes, if possible. For current road information go to: www.nvroads.com

Virgin River Gorge Construction
The Arizona Department of Transportation is urging motorists traveling through the Virgin River Gorge on Interstate 15 in the far northwest corner of Arizona to allow for extra travel time next month due to a reduced 25-mph speed limit that will be in place for a 66-hour period as part of an ongoing bridge reconstruction project.

Beginning on Tuesday Feb. 9 at 6 a.m. and ending at midnight on Thursday, Feb. 11, the reduced speed limit will be in place to allow crews to pour a new concrete bridge deck along the southbound Virgin River Bridge No. 6. The 66-hour period and reduced vibration from lower-speed traffic will allow the fresh concrete to properly cure. Traffic delays up to an hour are anticipated.
During this period, all commercial truck traffic will be restricted to carrying loads to 40 tons or 80,000 pounds, the legal limit for trucks across the rest of the state.
The concrete deck pour is a significant milestone on the $27 million reconstruction project that began in 2014, and includes the replacement of the bridge’s superstructure (girders, deck and railings), as

well as widening the roadway through the narrow passage of the gorge.
The highway is currently narrowed to one lane in each direction through the work zone until the Virgin River Bridge No. 6 project is completed this summer.
ADOT urges drivers to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, slow down and drive carefully through the work zone.
