The beauty of the Festival of Trees returns to the Old Logandale School on Friday and Saturday this week.

The 2016 Old Logandale School Historical and Cultural Society (OLSHACS) Festival of Trees will bring that warm and festive feeling to holiday season this weekend. The festival will be held on December 2-3 with all the trim, glitter and music to go with it.

The main ingredient of the festival is the Christmas trees that are creatively decorated by local businesses, families, and organizations. They donate the tree and ornaments to OLSHACS who in turn sells them to the public in a silent auction.
“It’s fun to see the different tree’s people come up with,” said Robin Maughan, event organizer.
Not only the trees are auctioned off but there are other Christmasseason items such as gift baskets, gingerbread houses, and wreaths available for bidding.

Maughan reported that 100% of the proceeds go to OLSHACS to help fund the Old Logandale School building for the coming year.
“All of the proceeds go toward helping run the building,” Maughan said. “Our funds come strictly from grants and donations. Besides, it’s a fun way to begin the New Year.”

A tree-decorating service is offered for those that want to donate a tree but don’t want to decorate it themselves. This year extra trees have also been donated without anyone to decorate them.
“If anyone wants to decorate a tree it’s not too late, or if people want to donate for the ornaments we can decorate it,” Maughan said.

Those that decorate their own trees need to bring them to the Old Logandale School on Thursday Dec. 1. Those that want to get involved can contact Robin Maughn.

There is also entertainment throughout the weekend. Santa Claus will be coming to visit the children on Friday night from 5:30-6:30 pm and Saturday afternoon 12:00-1:00 pm. Other performances include Bowler Elementary School choir, other soloists, and local dance groups. There will also be a cupcake walk every hour on both days. And a raffle will be held. Local vendors will be there providing ideas for Christmas gifts.
