Kids Encouraged To Prepare For Cinderella Pageant

By STEPHANIE BUNKER

Moapa Valley Progress

Every year Moapa Valley hosts a Cinderella pageant that showcases the natural beauty of young people from babies to women as well as little Prince Charmings. This year the pageant will be held at the Clark County Fair on Thursday April 13 at 6:00.

In preparation for the pageant there will be a series of optional and free workshops that highlight modeling and interviewing. As the workshops get closer to the pageant they will also cover the presentation of talents.

Modeling workshops will be held on March 21 and 28 at 5:30. At a March 31 workshop, Cinderella Pageant experts will work one-on-one with those who schedule an appointment for that day. On April 4th at 6:30 will be Tot personality and talent workshop. April 11 is scheduled a practice on the Showcase Stage at the fairgrounds.

The last chance for registering for the pageant is 2:45 pm on pageant day April 13 at the Grant Bowler Elementary School. The interviews begin at 3:15 and the Baby Pageant will begin at 5:00.

Moapa Valley Cinderella Pageant delegation director, Jacqulyn Pray explained that the pageant is focused on teaching the contestants about confidence and presenting themselves in a way to be successful throughout their lives. Contestants learn interviewing skills when they speak with the judges and they learn how to sit and what to wear.

Pray said that many local girls have benefited from skills learned during Cinderella pageants. One of those girls was her own daughter. “When she went for an interview for a job she blew the bosses away because she knew how to present herself,” said Pray.

Pray explained that there are many different awards the contestants can win, anywhere from winning the overall crown to most photogenic or best talent, each girl gets to feel accomplished by the end.
“It may or may not be the overall title, but they all get something,” Pray said. “It helps them look at themselves and ask: How can I do better?”
