MVHS Track and Field Teams Travel For First Week

The Moapa Valley Track and Field team travelled to Las Vegas High School on Thursday afternoon, March 9, for the newcomers meet. This meet allowed first year tracksters and field athletes the opportunity to participate in their first meet and removes the first meet gitters by competing with others in the same boat.

Moapa Valley took 33 athletes to this meet and came home with some success. Talon Jackson finished fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.66.

Hanna and Haley Williams took fourth and fifth place in the 100 meters, with times of 14.60 and 14.83. Hanna placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:09 and Hailey sixth with a time of 1:12.
Will Uri placed seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.29.
Andi Hillstead finished third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:58. He also took second in the 1600 in 6:36.

Sam Leavitt placed seventh in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:50.
Sara Mills finished sixth in the 1600 meters with a time of 7:42.
Garrison Draper placed first in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.92.
Kele Henderson finished second in the shotput with a throw of 31-10.5, while Alex Paulino finished sixth with a throw of 28-06.5. Kellen Wallace was eighth with a throw of 27-11.

Rike Martin finished second in the shotput with a throw of 24-07 and sixth in the discus with a throw of 55-07. Season Crawford won the discus with a throw of 69-03 and place fourth in the shot put with a throw of 23-02.

Mayke Fransen finished seventh in the shotput with a throw of 21-03.5 and seventh in the discus with a throw of 55-04.

Madyson Whitney finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 59-03.
On Friday the teams competed in Mesquite at the Virgin Valley Invitational. There the boy’s team finished sixth while the girls team finished fourth.
Greg Morrissey finished fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 11.92 and third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.22.

Bryton Dorsey finished fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:31 and fifth in the 1600 with a time of 5:35.
Nathan Waite finished third in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:38 while Evan Conger finished fourth in 12:40.
Garrison Draper finished fourth in the 300 meter hurdles in 47.81.
Josh Leavitt finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 95 feet.
Josh Lee won the pole vault with a vault of 12 feet.

On the girl’s side Bailey Bunker placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:08.
Matilda Thompson finished fourth in the 800 meters with her time of 2:52 and second in the 3200-meter run in 13:26.
Natalie Mills finished third in the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 49.86 and fourth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.91.
Shelby Olsen finished third in the 1600 meters with her time of 6:28.
Mariah Mendoza finished second in the shotput with her throw of 29-05; and fourth in the discus with a throw of 68-07.

The Pirates will host a midweek meet on Tuesday.
