Pirates Host Seven-School Track & Field Meet

The Moapa Valley High School Track and Field teams hosted a midweek meet on Tuesday, Mar. 14, where seven schools brought both boys and girls teams. It was an unlimited entry meet so every athlete from every school could participate in four events.
It was a long meet with a total of 1,200 entries. What started at 3:30 pm didn’t end until 9 pm.

The Shadow Ridge boys won the team event on the boy’s side with a score of 203 points. Sunrise Mountain was next with 183.5 points. Moapa Valley finished third with 81.5 points, followed by Spring Valley with 73 points, Beatty with 68 points, Eldorado with 51 points and Alamo with 7 points.

The Shadow Ridge girls won the girls team event with 180 points. Second was Spring Valley with 170 points. Moapa Valley finished third with 130 points. Eldorado finished fourth with 107 points. Sunrise Mountain was next with 31 points. Beatty finished with 17 points.
Greg Morissey finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 23.87.
Nathaniel Brill finished sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.
Isaah Fairchild finished fifth with an 11:51 time in the 3200-meter run.

Garrison Draper finished first in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 46.45.
Derek Pace finished third in the discus with a throw of 34-10. Josh Leavitt was seventh with a throw of 31-10.
Josh Lee finished first in the pole vault with 12-03.

On the girls’ side, Ashlyn Western finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:39.27. Bailey Bunker finished fourth in the same event with a time of 2:44. Matilda Thompson finished fifth with a time of 2:46.

Moapa Valley finished with three in the top four in the 1600. Ashlyn Western won it with a time of 5:59. But Thompson was second with a time of 6:16 and Bunker fourth with a time of 6:25.
Phylene Marquez was second in the 3200 meters and a time of 14:15. Shelby Olsen finished third with a time of 14:23. Natalie Mills finished fifth with a time of 19.74.
Mills won the 300 meters with a time of 48.94.

Mariah Mendoza finished third in the shotput with a throw of 28-05. Luisa Theilmann finished fifth with a throw of 25-11.
Mendoza finished third in the Discus with a throw of 76-02.
Sheigh Simmons finished second in the pole vault with a vault of 6-0.

The Pirates will travel to Mojave high school on Thursday and Arbor View on Friday.
