MVHS Swimmers Compete Against Sunrise Mtn.

The Moapa Valley High School Swim Team battled it out against Sunrise Mountain on Saturday at the Pavilion Center Pool in Las Vegas.
To start off the competition, the team of Samuel Jolley, Chase LaCroix, Nathaniel Thompson, and Tyler Holmes took first place in the Men 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 2:09.25.
Alexis Sawyer placed first in the Women 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:37.91. In second place, with a time of 3:30.19, was Skylar Farnsworth.

In the Men 200 Yard Freestyle, Mitchell Lyon took first place with his time of 2:40.66, beating out his Sunrise Mountain competitors by more than 20 seconds.
Zane Lamping’s time of 2:53.86 earned him first place in the Men 200 Yard Individual Medley.
Payten Peluaga placed second in the Women 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 39.62. Taking third at 40.34 was Luise Fisher.

In the Men 50 Yard Freestyle, Milo Farnsworth took first place with a time of 30.38. Mitchell Lyon came in third at 32.13, and Ryan McMurray finished fourth with a time of 38.01.
With a time of 1:21.26, Hailee Heiselbetz took third place in the Women 100 Yard Freestyle. At 1:22.34, Emma Walker finished in fourth place.

Nathaniel Thompson placed first in the Men 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 57.09. In second place, with a time of 1:11.31, was Milo Farnsworth.
Tyler Holmes swam the Men 500 Yard Freestyle in 5:09.35. His time, an improvement of 1:02 minutes from the last competition, earned him first place in the event.

In the Women 200 Yard Relay, the team of Kennedy Postma, Michelle Duong, Anna Stratton, and Macy Morgan took second place at 2:29.40. Finishing in fourth place with a time of 2:43.95 was the team of Hailee Heiselbetz, Payten Peluaga, Makae Pulsipher, and Skylar Farnsworth.
In the Men 200 Yard Relay, the team of Tyler Holmes, Chase LaCroix, Samuel Jolley, and Nathaniel Thompson took first place with a time of 1:48.06. In second place, with a time of 2:11.50, was the Pirate team of Mitchell Lyon, Milo Farnsworth, Ryan McMurray, and Zane Lamping.

Leontine Adler placed first in the Women 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:30.90.
Samuel Jolley took first place in the Men 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:22.92.
Camille Hardy placed first in the Women 100 Yard Breaststroke at 1:36.44. Placing second with a time of 1:38.34 was Kennedy Postma.
“I really enjoy swimming [the] breaststroke,” said Pirate swimmer Camille Hardy, adding that the event makes her feel more confident in her abilities. “I also love the support the whole team gives me. Ever since the first meet, they have been at the end of my lane, cheering me on.”

In the Men 100 Yard Breaststroke, Chase LaCroix placed first at 1:19.69. Zane Lamping finished his race at 1:27.72, placing second.
The team of Alexis Sawyer, Abbie Leavitt, Hannah Leavitt, and Emma Walker took first in the Women 400 Yard Relay at 5:07.62. Leontine Adler, Michelle Duong, Anna Stratton, and Macy Morgan finished their race at 5:46.56, taking third place.
In the Men 400 Yard Relay, the team of Tyler Holmes, Chase LaCroix, Samuel Jolley, and Nathaniel Thompson took first place at 4:05.15.

Overall, the MVHS boys beat Sunrise Mountain 115-60. Despite their strong performances, the girls fell to their competitors 161-82.
