Lady Pirates Dominate the Diamond For The Week

The schedule for the Moapa Valley High School Softball team started on Monday, Apr. 17, when SECTA travelled to Moapa Valley. It was the the start of three games that were played by the Pirates last week.
Kessa Evans hit 2 doubles in the game which was tied 1-1 headed into the bottom of the fourth inning. Then the Pirates took the lead for good with three runs scored.
Emilie Barrazza scored 2 RBI’s and hit a double giving the Pirates the lead.

The Pirate pitching gave up just 3 hits in the game but walked 5 and struck out 7 total.
Daesha Stasny pitched the first four innings giving way to Barrazza who finished the final 3 innings.
SECTA allowed 5 Pirate hits in the game.

Then on Wednesday the Pirates traveled to Del Sol and beat the Dragons in 4 innings 18-2. Moapa Valley scored first in the first inning as they took a 2-0 lead.
Del Sol tie the game in the bottom of the first just before the Pirates sent 6 girls across the plate and added 2 more in the third before 8 runs scored for the final.

The Pirates had 18 hits in the game in 34 at-bats total. Aria Messer was 4-4 with a double, one of six Pirates to hit doubles in the game scoring 4 times and knocking home an RBI. Stastny was 3-3 and scored an RBI. Evans was 3-4 at the plate hitting 2 double and a triple scoring twice and knocking in 5 RBI’s. Barrazza finished with 2 hits one of them a double and scored 3 RBI’s.Lainey Cornwall had a hit and a couple of RBI’s for the Pirates.

Pitcher Daesha Stastny finished the 4 innings allowing just 4 hits to the Dragons walking just one and striking out 4.

On Friday the Pirates travelled to Chaparral where they faced a Cowboy team win. Instead they were handed a 15-2 loss by Moapa Valley who dominated to game by taking a 2-0 lead in the second inning.
The Pirates blew the game open in the third with 6 more runs for an 8-0 lead headed into the bottom of the third.

Sierra Harding had a big day as she had 3 hits including a double and 3 RBI’s for Moapa Valley. Sierra Staheli hit a double scoring 2 RBI’s and scored 2 runs. Kaitlyn Anderson scored 2 RBI’s and crossed home plate 3 times. Barrazza had 3 hits including a double in the game scoring 2 RBI’s and scored 3 runs.

Chaparral scored a run in the bottom of the third on a home-run and another run on a homerun in the bottom of the fourth.
The game ended in the sixth inning as the Pirates scored the final 7 runs and held the Cowboys scoreless for the win.

Stastny pitched the whole game allowing 1 walk and striking out 2 while allowing just 4 hits to the Cowboys.
