MVHS Hosts Regional Track Tournament

The Southern Regional Track and Field Championship meet was held in Moapa Valley on Friday and Saturday. The 1A, 2A and 3A meet was contested with team champions.

In the 3A Boys, Pahrump Valley took first with 119 points. Mojave place second with 99 points. Sunrise Mountain place third with 85.5 points. Boulder City placed sixth with 56.5 points, Virgin Valley placed eighth with 45 points Moapa Valley place eleventh with 26 points.

For the Girls 3A, Cheyenne placed first with 124 points, Virgin Valley placed second with 113.5 points, Boulder City place third with 107 points and Moapa Valley placed fourth with 90 points.
The 2A boys saw White Pine win the title with Lincoln County finishing second. The 2A girls watched White Pine win the title with 254 points. Agassi finished second with 120 points.
For the 1A boys, Spring Mountain won the title with 323 points. Beatty was second with 129 points. The 1A girls was won by Tonopah with 240 points. Beatty was second with 155 points.

Moapa Valley had several individual competitors who performed well at the meet. Only the top five in each event qualified for the state meet this weekend.
In the girls 400 meters, Hanna Williams finished 6th and Ashlyn Western finished seventh.
Western finished first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:29.29 and the 1600 meters with a time of 5:51.04.
Bailey Bunker finished third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:32.52.
Shelby Olsen finished second in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:53.01. Olsen also won the 3200 meters with a time of 12:36.51.
Natalie Mills placed third in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.69 and also in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 48.42.

The girls 4X200 meter relay team placed fourth with a time of 1:54.74. The team consisted of Luisa Thielmann, Erika Baldwin, Natalie Mills and Cambree Pulsipher.
The girls 4X400 team finished second with a time of 4:23.22. The team consisted of Baldwin, Williams, Bunker and Mills.
The Pirate girls won the 4X800 with a time of 11:09.69. That team consisted of Andi Hillstead, Olsen, Bunker and Western.

On the boy’s side, Moapa Valley finished with Nathaniel Brill in sixth place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:06.42. Jerrick Stastny finishing seventh in the 3200 meters and eighth in the 1600 meters with times of 11:38.99 and 4:53.09.
The 4X800 relay placed fifth and earned a place in the state meet with a time of 8:31.85. That team consisted of Stastny, Grady Call, Bryton Dorsey and Brill.

Josh Lee won the pole vault with a vault of 13-6. His vault is the top vault in the 3A headed into state this year. His best vault is 13-9.
