Moapa Valley Progress
It was a busy week for the Moapa Valley High School Tennis teams last week. The teams had three matches to play within three days starting on Thursday and running through Saturday.
The season started at home where Desert Pines beat the lady Pirates 10-8. Sara Udall had an incredible day as she won all three of her matches leading the Pirate team. The Desert Pines doubles team of Yazaret Arredondo and Veronica Palacios were 3-0 against the Pirates. Brie Perkins finished 2-1 also for the Jaguars.
The Pirate Boys’ team also played Desert Pines and was beaten 11-7.
The Friday tournament, also played at home, went into a tie breaker against Eldorado. The Pirates went 4-2 in the tie breaker for the 10-9 win. Morgan Aikele was 2-1 for the Pirate girls.
On the boys’ side, Chase Hadley went undefeated with a 3-0 record against Eldorado. The boys beat Eldorado 13-5. Gavin Hadley and Slade Graham were undefeated in doubles with a 3-0 record.
On Saturday, Faith Lutheran came to Moapa Valley and beat the Lady Pirates 12-6. Morgan Aikele and Lilian Leavitt were 3-0 in doubles play to lead the Pirates. Chase Hadley finished 2-1 against Faith Lutheran but the Pirate team still fell to the Crusaders 10-8.
On Tuesday the Pirates travel to Chaparral to play the Cowboys at 3 PM. Then the Pirates will host Del Sol on Thursday at 3PM. Moapa Valley boys are 1-2 overall. The girls are also 1-2.
