Southern 3A – Sunrise
Canyon View at Virgin Valley
The Bulldogs started their season at home against Canyon View, Utah from Cedar City. The Dawgs came away with a 31-12 victory starting the season with a win for the first time in three years. Virgin Valley scored a touchdown in each quarter and two in the fourth for the win.

Bulldog quarterback Cade Anderson finished by completing 6 of 8 passes for 205 yards with 4 touchdowns. He also threw an interception.

Runningback Jayden Perkins caught 4 of the passes for 168 yards and 3 touchdowns.The all-state athlete also carried the ball 13 times for 128 yards and a touchdown. Perkins had 296 yards of total offense in leading the Bulldogs to the win.

Cresent Crandall carried the ball 5 times for 16 yards. Timothy Moeai carried the ball twice for 16 yards. Vicent Pinto caught the other Bulldog touchdown, a 25 yard score.

Colten Shumway threw for 99 yards for Canyon View with a touchdown. Canyon View ran the ball for 154 yards being led by the quarterback Shumway with 10 carries for 67 yards. Hunter Anderson ran the ball 21 times for just 63 yards.
Virgin Valley will travel to Clark this week.

Chaparral at Bonanza
The Cowboys beat Bonanza 14-6 at Bonanza. The game was scoreless through the first half. Bonanza scored first with 7:21 remaining in the third quarter when Armani Burns caught a 6 yard pass from Kyle Allison.

TrRay Collins put the Cowboys on the board in the very next Cowboy drive when he broke a 41 yard run with 5:34 to play in the third. Dennis Perez kicked the extra point giving that Cowboys a lead.
Collins scored again with a couple minutes left in the game when he broke another run this time for 15 yards. With Perez’s kick completed the final, 14-6.

Del Sol at Mojave
It was a very disappointing night for Del Sol when they were shut out by Mojave 36-0.
The Rattlers scored twice in the first quarter. Ivan Parra scored from a yard out with 5:23 to play in the first. Tawee Walker scored the 2 point conversion with the 3 yard run. Walker then scored the second Rattler touchdown with a 10 yard run on the next series. The 2 point conversion was an incomplete pass.

Xavier De Long scored midway through the second quarter with a 1 yard run while Quincy Smith scored the 2 point conversion. Elijah Alvarez scored with a 6 yard touchdown run. AJ Williams scored the 2 point conversion with a run for a 30-0 lead.
DeLong scored a second time with a 5 yard run for the final 36-0.
Mojave had 328 yards of total offense while holding Del Sol to just 169 total yards. 270 yards of Mojave’s offense came on the ground.

Clark at Boulder City
The Eagles used a huge third quarter by scoring 20 points in helping the Eagles to a 1 point 34-33 win over the Clark Chargers. Thorston Balmer ran the ball for 150 yards for the Eagles and scored three touchdowns for the Eagles win.

Southern 3A – Sunset
Desert Pines at Bishop Diego
The Jaguars were shut out 9-0. John Harris ran for 207 yards for Bishop Deigo in California, and scored the lone touchdown in the first quarter. Bishop Diego scored a field goal in the third quarter.

Cheyenne at Basic

The Desert Shields were beaten badly by the Basic Wolves 52-28. Basic scored three times in the first quarter to build a lead then added a couple more touchdowns in the second quarter for a 35-14 lead by half time.

Cheyenne scored once in the first and second quarters, then scored twice in the third. Basic scored once in the third and scored a touchdown and field goal in the fourth.
Cheyenne’s first touchdown came off a 92 yard kick-off return by Anthony Arballo. Their second came off a 69 yard pass play to Anthony Walker from Joshua Rose.

Cheyenne did have 478 yards of total offense, but they gave up 532 to the Wolves. Cheyenne had 236 yards rushing and 242 yards passing.
Basic ran the ball for 232 yards and threw the ball on 16-27 for 300 yards.

Durango at Pahrump
Durango beat the Trojans 26-19. Durango scored the first touchdown on a 42 yard run by TK Fotu in the first quarter. They built a 19-6 lead by halftime. Then they held on to seal it with a final game winner. In the last minute of the game, Kaden Renshaw scored for Durango from a yard away.
The Trojans tied the game with two touchdowns, the first in the third quarter when Cory Bergan caught a 7 yard pass from Dylan Coffman then David Roundy scored in the fourth quarter on an 8 yard run with 3:30 to play in the game.

Rancho at Western
It had been 43 games since the Western Warriors beat anyone in a football game. The last time Western won was on November 10, 2010 against Pahrump. But not only did they get a win on Friday night, they shut out the Rancho Rams 20-0.
The Warriors scored twice in the first quarter when Anthony Shelby ran for 10 yards and then caught a 70 pass from Joseph Medley for a 13-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. Eric Hughes scored the final touchdown with 17 seconds remaining in the first half when he caught a 32 yard pass from Medley.
Western finished with 337 yards of total offense and held Rancho to just 79 yards of total offense.

Northern 3A
Truckee at Bret Harte CA
The Wolverines started the season looking like the Wolverines of old; back when the late Bob Shaffer ran the program. They beat the Bullfrogs of Bret Harte 61-7.
The Truckee team has dedicated the season to Shaffer who was killed in a car crash back in April.
Truckee quarter back Marcus Bellon was 10-13 for 147 yards passing and threw 4 touchdowns in the win.
Truckee took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter then added 19 points in the second quarter for a 33-7 lead at half time.

With the throttle down the Wolverines scored three more times in the third quarter and finished the day with a touchdown in the fourth.
Truckee punted just one time in the whole game. The Wolverines had 482 yards of total offense, 147 passing and 335 rushing.

Wooster at Rosemont
The Wooster Colts were beaten 33-20 by Rosemont , Sacramento, CA, in their first game of the season. Wooster gave up 383 yards rushing to the Wolverines and 425 total in the game.

Fallon at Hug (Reno)
Fallon beat Hug 19-14 in Reno for their first win of the season.

Fernley at Sacred Heart Prep
Fernly travelled to San Francisco and were beaten by the fight’in Irish 35-26.
Fernley scored first with a touchdown in the first quarter and added a couple more in the second. The Fightin’ Irish scored twice in the second quarter to trail 20-14 at half time.
Fernley scored just once more in the game, the third quarter, then allowed Sacred heart three touchdowns, two in the third and one in the fourth to get a loss.

Sparks at Lovelock
Sparks started the season in 2A Lovelock, Nevada and were beaten 18-8.
Sparks didn’t score until the fourth quarter. They allowed two touchdowns in the second quarter and a field goal in the fourth.

Lincoln County at Dayton
The Dayton Dust Devils got their first win this year in the first game when they beat the 2A Lynx 44-38. Dayton opened the game with 22 points in the first quarter and led 30-22 at half time. Lincoln County scored a touchdown in the first and two in the second to close the gap. Lincoln County regretted the first quarter as they would outscore the Dust Devils in the second half 16-14 and tied the game in the third quarter before giving up two touchdowns in the fourth and losing the game.

Spring Creek at Star Valley
Last year’s state runner travelled to Star Valley, Wyoming and came away with a 55-42 loss to the Braves. Star Valley scored three times in the first quarter for a 21-8 lead to start the second quarter. The score was 35-22 at half time.
