The Moapa Valley tennis teams finished the season last week with second round losses to the Meadows school. The girl’s team lost 2-16 while the boy’s team lost 1-17.
In the girls singles tournament Jurnie Crawford won her first match against Perez of Cheyenne: 6-2, 7-5. But she was beaten in the second round by Piccioli of Cheyenne 6-2, 6-0.
Sara Udall won her first round match against Lenella Cooper of Chaparral: 6-3, 6-1. Then she was beaten by Oliva Waysack of Meadows 6-0, 6-0.
Benedicte Johannessen lost her first round match 6-0, 6-0 to Goodfellow of Boulder City.
On the Boy’s side Conner Batty won his first round match against Ryan Strimmly of Adelson: 6-3, 6-2. Then he lost to the top seed from the sunset Rua Elmore of Western: 6-0, 6-1.
Chase Hadley is in the quarterfinals with two wins in the first two rounds. He beat Alex Wright of Desert Pines in the first round 6-0, 6-0. Then he beat Andrew Little of Meadows 7-6, 6-4.
Adam Smedley beat Akil West of Mojave 6-1, 6-1. He then lost his second round match to Treasure Nyame of Desert Pines 6-0, 6-0.
In Girls doubles, Averee Widdison and Aubrey Aikele won the first two matches to advance to the quarter finals with a first round win over Conyers and Hills of Sunrise Mountain: 6-1, 6-1. They beat Olibrice and Resendes also of Sunrise Mountain 6-2, 6-0. They played top seeded Barcel and Nemec of the Meadows Monday.
Amber Ables and Courtney Zerkle beat Barterl and Burnett of Del Sol in their first round match 6-0, 6-0. They were beaten in their second round match by Palacios and Arredondo of Desert Pines 6-0, 6-1.
Morgan Aikele and Lily Leavitt had byes in the first two rounds. They are the top seed from the Sunrise and will play Monday in the quarterfinals against Paradiso and Indyg of the Meadows.
