Southern 3A Boys – Sunrise

Boulder City
The Eagles had three games on the road last week and ended up 3-0.

They started on Monday night at Pahrump where they beat the Trojans 57-52. After a 10-10 tie to start the second quarter the Eagles pulled away . The Trojans closed the gap to 3-points to begin the fourth. Derreck Thomas led the Eagles with 22 points.

Boulder City travelled to SECTA on Wednesday and opened the game with a 16-2 first quarter. The lead was maintained through the game as they beat the Roadrunners 54-34. Thomas led the team with 14-points while Bailey added 12. The Eagles are 4-1 in league play and 13-5 overall.

Chaparral
The Cowboys lost to Sierra Vista 69-44 last Tuesday in a non-league game. It was a 22-7 fourth quarter that took the Cowboys out. Robrty McGregor and Jonathon Tendale each scored 12 points to lead the Cowboys.

In their lone league game of the week Chaparral hosted Virgin Valley and roasted the Dawgs 60-40. Chaparral jumped out to a 24-7 lead to start the second quarter then lead 38-12 at halftime. They coasted the rest of the game for the win. Will Barnum led the Bulldogs with 10 points while Elijah Briggs led the Cowboys with 18 points.

In their final game of the week the Cowboys lost to Liberty 81-61. The Cowboys are 5-0 in league play and 8-6 overall.

SECTA
Besides their loss to Boulder City the Roadrunners beat Sky Pointe 62-21. After a 16-9 first quarter lead for SECTA, they exploded for a 22-5 second quarter. SECTA held the Eagles to seven points in the second half, four in the third and three in the fourth. Nijel Murry scored 11 to lead Sky Pointe while Jurelle Orbino scored 15 for the Roadrunners. SECTA is 3-2 in league play and 7-10.

Virgin Valley
The Bulldogs got their first league win when they beat the Eagles of Sky Pointe 58-22 last week. They scored 22 points in the first and second quarters. They held Sky Pointe to a single point in the second quarter and lead 44-8 at halftime. Meb Hollingshead scored 14 points to lead the Dawgs while Jayden Perkins added 12.

The Bulldogs travelled to Lincoln County on Saturday and lost to the 2A Lynx 49-46. Lincoln held a 17-11 lead after the first quarter and a 31-20 advantage at halftime. Virgin Valley made it close when they outscored the Lynx 17-9 in the fourth quarter as the Lynx held on for the win. Kobe Walker scored 13 points and Noah Smith added 11 for Lincoln County. Riley Waite scored 12 to lead the Bulldogs in their loss. Virgin Valley is 1-5 in league play and 4-16 overall.

Southern 3A Boys – Sunset

Cheyenne
The Desert Shields are 2-0 in league play. They beat Desert Pines 61-49. They held a 13-12 lead after the first quarter then a 22-16 lead at halftime over the Jaguars. A 17-9 fourth quarter made the difference in the twelve-point win. No one scored in double figures for the Jaguars.Damion Bonty scored 15 to lead Cheyenne.

The team hosted Canyon Springs on Wednesday night and gave up 103 points to the Pioneers in a 103-76 loss. It was 31-20 after the first quarter and 52-37 at halftime. Kevin Legardy scored 38 points for Canyon Springs. Hall lead the Desert Shields with 20 points.

Desert Pines
The Jaguars rebounded from their losses to Cheyenne and Eldorado to blow out Sunrise Mountain 80-49. The Jaguars held an eleven-point lead after the first quarter. They finished the game with a 30-16 run to finish with the win. Lorenzo Brown scored 17 points for the Jaguars while Hasani Pullens added 16.

Mojave
The Rattlers are 2-0 in league play and 11-5 overall. They beat Western, 70-37; Pahrump Valley, 71-53; then beat the north’s number one team Elko, 54-44.

In the Elko game they used an 18-8 third quarter run to build the lead and get the win. Sean Klekas lead the Indians with 16 points. Jose Zatary added 10-points. Noah Sherrand scored 13 for Mojave while Chris Jackson added 12

Southern 3A Girls – Sunset

Boulder City
The Eagles are 3-2 in league play and 8-8 overall. They lost to Pahrump on Monday 26-24, beat SECTA 54-35 on Wednesday, and were beaten by Moapa Valley 61-32 on Friday.

Chaparral
Chaparral beat Sierra Vista 54-51, then lost to Virgin Valley 62-47. The Cowboys are 2-3 in league play and 6-10 overall.

Sky Pointe
The Eagles have one win with a 1-9 record overall and 0-5 in league play. They lost to Virgin Valley, 52-11, and to SECTA, 24-15.

Southern 3A Girls – Sunrise
Desert Pines is in a first-place tie with Mojave with a 2-0 league record. Desert Pines has just three wins on the season though. Mojave is 7-3.

Pahrump Valley: 1-1; 11-3 overall. Western: 1-1; 4-6 overall. Cheyenne: 0-2. Sunrise Mountain: 0-2. Cheyenne: 5-7 overall. Sunrise Mountain: 2-7.
