The Moapa Valley High School Wrestling team had a grueling schedule on the road last week.
The week got off to a bleak start with the Pirates losing two league tournaments on the road. On Wednesday, the Moapa team was beaten by Boulder City. The following day, they travelled to Virgin Valley and were beaten there by their rivals.
But the outlook brightened somewhat over the weekend when the Pirate team travelled to Enterprise, Utah for a tournament which included Enterprise and Palo Verde teams. In that tournament, Pirate wrestler Gavin Henrie emerged in second place. MVHS junior Jorge Cervantes and senior Zach Anderson both took 6th in their divisions.
The NIAA Class 3A southern region meet will be held this weekend in Las Vegas. The tournament begins on Friday at 3:15 pm at Western High School. All are encouraged to come and cheer on the Pirate wrestlers. Go Pirates!
