Mesquite Showgirls To Hold Valentines Fundraiser

The Mesquite Showgirls organization is putting on its first annual fundraiser, the “Denim and Diamonds” event to be held on February 14.

Imagine a magical, romantic night with your sweetheart, all while helping a fun and charitable community organization.

This is what it is all about at the “Denim and Diamonds” event held on Valentines Day, February 14, at 6:00 pm in the Grand Ballroom of the Rising Star Sports Ranch.
The evening will kick off with a champagne reception followed by a buffet dinner offering three main entrees and ending with a special “chef’s choice” dessert.

But that’s not all. Attendees can put on their dancin shoes and their boogie boots and heels for the night’s entertainment provided by local rockers and ruckus makers “Dealt-A-Straight”.

After dinner, guests will have the chance to purchase raffle tickets for some wonderful prizes. These include amazing artwork, dinner for two at the 1880 Grill, custom portrait packages, one of a kind jewelry handmade by well-known local artist Karron Knight, a weekend getaway, hand-welded art pieces by amazing local metal artist Matt Thomas and much more.

The “Denim and Diamonds” event will be the first formal fundraiser for the Mesquite Showgirls organization.
The Showgirls group was started in 2011 by founder Jean Watkins. Since then it has grown in members and recognition. With just three girls at their first event the group now boasts around a dozen showgirls and a handful of “show guys” too.

Women of all shapes and sizes have become showgirls. In fact the majority of the ladies are 60+ in age. While they might not sing and they might not dance, they do have a lot of fun helping out local companies and organizations such as Eureka, CasaBlanca, Rising Star, Sun City, The Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, and the Mesquite Community Theater. They do this by adding a little extra razzle, dazzle to local events with they’re fun costumes, bright personalities and welcoming smiles.
“The ladies involved in this organization play a very special role in the Mesquite community,” said founder Jean Watkins.
