Pirates Build Steam In 3-0 Week

The Moapa Valley High School baseball team played three games last week and came home with three wins; including two games that were blow outs.

The Pirates started the week on Tuesday, March 13, at Sunrise Mountain High School in Las Vegas. Moapa Valley scored a 16-0 victory in only three innings. The mercy rule limit is 15 runs by the end of the third.

Pirate sophomore, Gannon Hymas was two for three from the plate with a double and 3 RBI’s. Chase Hadley, a junior, was also two for three with a double and an RBI.
Hadley was also the winning pitcher allowing just one Miners hit for the game.
Daxton Longman was one for two from the plate with an RBI while Chase Guessman finished going three for three with a triple and 3 RBI’s.

Moapa Valley scored four runs in the first inning then batted around the lineup in the second inning where they scored nine runs. The Pirates scored three more runs in the top of the third for the big win.

On Wednesday the Pirates hosted the first-place team from the Sunset, the Pahrump Valley Trojans and came away with a 12-3 win over the Trojans.
Pirate junior Coby Longman had an incredible day! He pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts. He also hit a homerun and a double, scoring four RBI’s with two hits in three at-bats.

Daxton Longman hit a three- run home run while Chase Hadley added two RBI’s of his own.
The Pirates used a six-run fourth inning taking a 9-2 lead into the fifth inning.
Pahrump Valley had eight errors in the game.

On Friday afternoon, the Pirates hosted SLAM Academy, at team that will be joining the 3A next year. SLAM scored four runs in the second inning for an early lead.
Moapa Valley scored a run in the first, third, fifth and then two runs in the sixth for the lead. Then the Pirates held on for the win in the seventh.

Hunter Wrzesinksi was two for two scoring three times in the game. Chase Hadley was two for three.
Luke Bennet pitched the win going 6.1 innings with three earned runs scored against him. He had four strike outs.
Gavin Hadley closed the game out for the save with two strike outs ending the game.

The Pirates will host Western High School on Wednesday. Go Pirates!
