3A Baseball – Sunrise
Boulder City
The Eagles are still undefeated in league play as they were 2-0 with a 11-0 shutout win over Chaparral to claim first place in the Sunrise.

But before we get to that game, the Eagles travelled to Sierra Vista and were beaten in a nonleague game 20-10. Sierra Vista started the game with a six run first inning then added a run in the second. The Eagles scored a run in the top of the second and trailed 7-1 headed into the third inning.
Boulder City then exploded with seven runs in the top of the third for an 8-7 lead. Sierra Vista scored twice in the bottom half of the third to regain the lead at 9-8. They would not trail again.

Sierra Vista scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth, a run in the fifth and three in the sixth to end the game. The Eagles scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Anthony Pacifico had two RBI’s as well as Joey Giuta and Troy Connell. Jimmy Dugan and DJ Reese both finished with three hits as well.

In the Chaparral game the Eagles shutout the Cowboys 11-0 claiming first place. ChaftonTemple finished with a double while Teddy Lobkowicz had two hits and drove in two runs. Pacifico drove in a run on a double. James Cobian who had a double led Chaparral.

Last Thursday the Eagles pounded the Del Sol Dragons 17-7 in six innings at Del Sol to finish three road games in a row for the Eagles. Boulder City scored four runs in the first inning then added six runs in the second inning. They scored a single run in the fifth and added six more in the sixth. Del Sol scored two runs in the first and third innings. They scored a run in the second fifth and six. Reese finished with a triple and drove home a run. Nolan Herr had two hits including a double and three RBI’s. Rhett Armstrong had three hits, two of them doubles and two RBI’s.

Del Sol had four doubles in the game with Javier Borrero-belen driving home two RBI’s. Boulder City is 5-0 in league play and 13-10 overall.

Chaparral
The Cowboys lost more games last week then they have lost all year. Their second loss of the league season came on Thursday when the Cowboys travelled to Virgin Valley and were beaten 2-0. Cade Anderson drove in both runs.

Del Sol
The Dragons played at SECTA last Tuesday to start the week. They were beaten in a close one, 3-2. Tech took a 1-0 lead in the third inning before the Dragons scored a run in the fourth and fifth for a one run lead. Tech finished the game with a run in the sixth and a run in the seven to win it. Del Sol hasn’t won a league game this year and sit in the cellar at 0-5. They are 6-12 overall.

SECTA
The Roadrunners finished last week with a 11-1 win over Sunrise Mountain.
Tech scored once in the first inning then added five more runs in the second inning to get the big lead. They scored three runs in the fourth and finished with two runs in the fifth for the final.
Sunrise Mountain scored their run in the top of the fourth.
Gabe Kermode had three hits in the game including two double and four RBI’s for SECTA. The Roadrunners are 2-3 in league play and 14-7 overall.

Sunrise Standings: Boulder City 5-0, Chaparral 3-2, Virgin Valley 3-2, Moapa Valley 2-3, Vo-Tech 2-3 and Del Sol 0-5.

3A Baseball – Sunset
Desert Pines
The Jaguars came off their first league loss with a 8-7 win over Cheyenne at home on Monday, April 16, in a game which had Cheyenne score all seven of their runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-3 lead in the game.
Desert Pines scored a run in their first, second and third innings, then added a couple of more to trail by two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The Jaguars scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth then held on for the win just avoiding a Cheyenne upset. Juan Castaneda 2-4 with a triple scoring three runs just one of four triples in the game for Desert Pines.

Steven Laureano tripled and scored three RBI’s as well. James Greco hit two triples for the Jaguars. Cheyenne scored their runs on singles with just one exception, Joseph Moreno hitting a double.
On Thursday the Jaguars scored a run in the first and third innings.
Western scored their only two runs in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2. Desert Pines scored a run in the fifth, a couple of runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh for a 6-2 win over Western. Minero finished the game with three hits to lead the Jaguars. Xavier Thomas hit two triples for the Warriors scoring once and driving in just one RBI.
The Jaguars are still the only Sunset team to have a winning overall record this season.

Cheyenne
Cheyenne got their first win last win when they beat Mojave 12-3. Mojave held a 4-3 lead heading into the top of the ninth inning. Cheyenne then exploded with nine runs on four hits capitalizing on three Mojave errors for the win. Lonnie Rose drove in three RBI’s while Joseph Moreno and Anthony Pauley each drove in two runs for Cheyenne who is 1-4 in league play and 1-10 overall.

Pahrump Valley
The Trojans are 4-1 in league play and 8-13-1 overall. The Trojans started the week with a 5-1 win over Western. Western scored their lone run in the first inning. Pahrump Valley tied the game in the bottom of the first then added four runs in the bottom of the fourth for the win. Tyler Matthews had two hits for the Warriors. Willie Lucas and Dylan Grossell each doubled for Pahrump Valley with Lucas scoring an RBI.
The Trojans travelled to Sunrise Mountain last Thursday and beat the Miners 18-1 in five innings. Pahrump Valley scored eight runs in the second inning and nine more in the top of the fifth to end the game.

Sunrise Mountain scored their run in the fourth. Chase McDaniel had three hits with a triple and homerun scoring four RBI’s. Anthony Chase hit a homerun scoring two Trojans and scoring three time himself. Lucas and Joey Koening doubled. Last Saturday the Trojans travelled to Legacy and were beaten by the longhorns 8-7 thanks to a six run third inning for the Longhorns.

Mojave
The Rattlers pounded Sunrise Mountain 21-5 in five inning to start last week. Mojave started the game with seven runs in the top of the first then scored two, four, three and five runs for the win. Mojave had 21 hits to the Miners five hits. Rudy Fernandez finished with four hits for the Rattlers including a homerun. Mike Cianci had three hits including two solo homeruns. Kevin Gutierrez finish with four hits a double and triple scoring two RBI’s. Mojave is 3-2 in league play and 7-16 overall. Sunrise Mountain is 1-4 in league play and 3-17 overall.

Sunset Standings: Desert Pines 4-1, Pahrump Valley 4-1, Mojave 3-2, Western 2-3, Cheyenne 1-4 and Sunrise Mountain 1-4.

3A Softball – Sunrise
Boulder City
The Eagles lost to Sierra Vista 11-3 to start last week then beat Chaparral 14-1 and Del Sol 21-6 in league play.

Chaparral
The Cowboys beat Virgin Valley in their second game last week 3-1.

Del Sol
The Dragons beat SECTA 24-6 last Tuesday in five innings. They scored seven runs in the top of the fifth to end the game.

SECTA
The Roadrunners remained winless after losing three last week. The final was a loss to Sunrise Mountain 19-4.

Sunrise Standings: Moapa Valley 5-0, Boulder City 4-1, Chaparral 3-2, Del Sol 2-3, Virgin Valley 1-4 and Vo-Tech 0-5.

3A Softball – Sunset
Pahrump Valley
The Trojans remain undefeated in league play as they beat Western 17-5, Sunrise Mountain 17-0 then beat Legacy 17-3 last Saturday.

Cheyenne
Cheyenne beat Desert Pines 19-2 and Mojave 10-8 last week.

Mojave
The Rattlers blew out Sunrise Mountain 20-1 as the finished 1-1 last week.
Desert Pines
The Jaguars beat Western 21-4 to finish with their first league win of the season.

Sunset Standings: Pahrump Valley 5-0, Cheyenne 4-1, Mojave 3-2, Desert Pines 1-4, Sunrise Mountain 1-4 and Western 1-4.
