Chloie Leavitt

Chloie Estella Leavitt passed away peacefully on Friday, September 14, 2018 in Tucson, Arizona. She was surrounded by family, holding hands with her two oldest children. She spent the last few months of her life bravely fighting cancer, a battle she lost at age 55.

She was born May 14, 1963, in St. George Utah, to Clarren Leavitt and Rosemary Hughes. Both have preceded her in death. As the eldest sibling of six, she spent much of her youth caring for her brothers and sisters. She would show the same care and attention in raising and schooling her children, in Moapa Valley, Nevada.

She married Timothy Hentzell in 1986. They had two children and were later divorced. She later married Richard Blaber, with whom she had two children prior to their divorce.

Though she moved around, she lived most of her life in southern Nevada, close to her roots. She had worked as a postal worker and a raw food chef, and enjoyed gardening, both as a hobby, and as part of living a self-sufficient and healthy life.

Throughout her life, Chloie had a love of language and a passion for writing. She wrote and published several children’s books, and the first in a series of cozy mysteries. She was a walking dictionary, and always had an interesting fact to share. She took great pleasure in reading, movies, and sitcoms, and loved to laugh. She took joy and pride in raising her four children. She took particular relish in the family holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas, preparing elaborate meals and making candy from scratch. She loved her family more than anything.

Chloie is survived by four siblings: James Leavitt, Cheryl-Lynn Stephenson, Samuel Garcia, and April Numerick; as well as her four children: Brock Hentzell, Brittany Hentzell-Pannekoek, Bronze Blaber, and Brody Blaber; and five grandchildren: Asher, Vance, Clara, Brittany, and Zowie.

Chloie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Services will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 5:00pm at the Bunkerville chapel. Urn interment will follow at the Bunkerville cemetery.

Everyone who would like to pay their respects to Chloie is welcome to attend.

  1. Britney, I am so profoundly sorry for your loss. It’s not easy losing a parent. Nothing I can say will make you feel better right now. But in time, you’ll only be able to remember the good things 🙂
