The Rawson family of Logandale offers a wide variety of home-made pomegranate products that are perfect as local holiday gifts.

As the Christmas season has come, many are in search of unique gifts for friends, family and loved ones. Moapa Valley has some unique gifts all its own to offer. There is no better way to bring a little cheer to Christmas than to gift items that are made and sold right here in Moapa Valley.

A variety of items of various price levels and tastes can be found here including handmade jewelry, trinkets, local art, pomegranate jelly. It isn’t hard to find something for anyone on the Christmas list.

For earring lovers out there, there is an online Facebook page called Robbin Lane. Owned by local resident Nitosha Hall-Robertson who sells dangle earrings, studs, hoop earrings, and a huge selection of holiday earrings from the page. She also makes mermaid tail necklaces for the little girls that dream of having a tail.

The Lost City Museum gift shop has some wonderful gift ideas which many local folks forget about. Things like Southwest Native American jewelry and beautiful pottery made by the Hopi and Navajo tribes are available there. There are also beautiful sand paintings, dream catchers, coffee mugs and much more on sale. The museum store hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m..

While there, make sure to stop by and view the museum artist’s gallery that showcases art from a different area artist every month. Many exhibited art pieces are available to purchase in the gallery.

Moapa Valley is so lucky to by ground zero for world-class pomegranate production. Some local families sell home-made products made from homegrown pomegranates. These make great gifts. The Rawson family of Logandale and the Beckstrand family of Overton can supply holiday shoppers with a variety of jellies and syrups that can’t be beat.

The Rawsons have eight different types of jelly starting with regular pomegranate, low sugar pomegranate, No Sugar Pomegranate and pomegranate lime. They also have some more creative twists on the pomegranate jelly staple such as alligator jelly, holy habanero, bam jam and pomegranate coconut lime. They also have alligator sauce as pomegranate syrup.

The Rawson family has been juicing pomegranates and making jelly for at least 42 years. The idea of making and selling the jelly started during one juicing season when Leah Bush (who was known back then as Leah Rawson) and her sisters were experimenting with adding different flavors to the jelly. The results turned out “pretty darn good,” Leah said. Now it has become a special family gathering that Grandma Rawson hopes will continue for many future generations.

If it is pomegranate juice you seek, the Scott and Carrie Beckstrand family. The Beckstrands have several jelly and syrup products too; all homemade and delicious. They also sell cinnamon pomegranate jam and syrup. And they even have pomegranate flavored honey.

And speaking of honey, the Ozaki honey farm offers locally-produced honey in various sizes and types. They also sell creative creamed flavors of cinnamon pecan and cinnamon.
