Cowboy Poetry to return to Mesquite in February

The 13th Annual Mesquite Western Roundup featuring cowboy music and poetry is scheduled for February 8 at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm; then again on February 9 at 1:00 pm. It will be held at the Mesquite Community Theatre, 150 North Yucca St.

The event will include pre-show entertainment by the local musical group “Strings ’n’ Things.” Jeff Hoyt will return as the Master of Ceremonies.

Carol Markstrom, Western Female Vocalist of the Year for both 2015 and 2017, will perform traditional western music and song.

Cowboy poets from Colorado, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming will be performing some of the old favorites as well as some of their own works. Farrel Bott, Lee Kimberlin, Jim Parsons, Hap Stuart, Russ Westwood, and Brice Wilson will deliver poetry steeped in the American West.

This event is presented by the Mesquite Arts Council and the Mesquite Cowboy Poets Group. Tickets for the event are $10.00 per person, general admission. They are available at the Mesquite Community Theatre Box Office and the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery. They may also be purchased online anytime at www.mctnv.com.
