3A Spring Sports Roundup (March 20, 2019)

3A Baseball-Sunrise
Boulder City
The Eagles were busy last week with six games in six days. It started in Pahrump as the Eagles defeated the Trojans 6-3. Boulder City scored three runs in the first inning, a run in each of the second, fourth and fifth innings. The Trojans scored a run in the first, third and sixth innings.

On Wednesday the Eagles shutout the Western Warriors 10-0. The Eagles used an 8 run fifth inning to end the game in the bottom of the fifth on the mercy rule. The Eagles pounded out nine hits. Boulder City’s pitching allowed just one Warrior hit for the game.

Friday the Eagles traveled to Hurricane, Utah where they shutout Hunter High School 10-0. The game took six innings. The Eagles scored 4 runs in the first, a run in the third, with 3 runs in the fourth. They ended the game with 2 runs in the top of the sixth. Once again the Eagle pitching allowed just one hit.

In the second game of the day the team shut out Highland High school 4-0.
On Saturday the Eagles played two more games. The first was against Thunder Ridge, Idaho where they won 18-0. The game ended in the fifth. The Eagles ended the tournament with a 14-2 win over Wasatch High School from Heber City, Utah. The Eagles are 8-2 overall this year.

Chaparral
The Cowboys played three games last week, all three were shutouts. The first game Del Sol shut out the Cowboys 3-0. The Cowboys were held to just 3 hits for the game.
On Wednesday the Cowboys hosted the Valley Vikings and shut them out 10-0. Chaparral scored 6 runs in the first followed by a run in the second and 3 runs in the third ending the game.
The third game of the week came Friday against Democracy Prep, a 15-0 three inning win for the Cowboys. Chaparral pitched a no hitter and scored 11 runs in the third inning ending the game.

Sunrise Mountain
The Miners were beaten by the Valley Vikings 17-7 in five innings.
The Miners blew out the Blue Knights of Democracy Prep 19-4 in three innings. The Miners scored 8 runs in the first, 4 in the second and 7 in the third. The Miners are 1-2 this season.

Virgin Valley
The week started on the road with a 6-5 loss to Mojave. The Dawgs scored 2 runs in the first inning for an early lead. Mojave tied the game with one run in the third and one run in the fourth. The Dawgs scored a run in each of fifth, sixth and seventh for a 5-2 lead headed into the bottom of the seventh. That’s when Mojave scored 4 runs in the bottom half ending the game.
Later in the week, the Dawgs beat Del Sol 10-5.
Then they played in the Spring Slam Tournament last weekend. The first game the Dawgs handed over a win to Indian Springs 8-2. The second game was a 4-1 win for the Bulldogs over Lake Mead. On Saturday the Dawgs were beaten by Meadows 5-3. Virgin Valley is 3-5 overall this season.

3A Baseball-Sunset
Del Sol
The Dragons beat Desert Pines 11-0. Valley
The Vikings lost to Eldorado when the Sun Devils scored 4 runs to take the lead and hold on to a 7-4 win. Valley is 1-2 this season.

Western
The Warriors beat Cheyenne 12-4. Western held a 8-3 lead after the second inning. Western had scored 3 runs in the first then 5 runs in the second. Western added 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth.

3A Softball-Sunrise
Boulder City
The Eagles are off to their worst start in many years with a 4-9 record. They started the week on Monday with a 14-10 loss in Pahrump. The Eagles started the game with 4 runs in the first and 3 more in the second for a 7-0 lead. Pahrump Valley scored a run in the bottom of the second then added 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth. They got 3 more in the sixth for the win.

The Eagles beat Western 19-4 in four innings. They scored 10 runs in the bottom of the third then ended the game in the bottom of the fourth with 3 more runs.
Boulder City played in the March Warm Up tournament where they beat South Summit in the first game Friday 10-9. They lost to Stanbury Utah in the second game Friday 18-11. On Friday, the Eagles lost to Uinta 13-1. They had just 4 hits in the game.
Saturday the Eagles lost to San Juan 17-16. And in the final game of the tournament, the Eagles lost to Cedar City 14-5.

Chaparral
The Cowboys are 6-2 this year. They beat Del Sol 17-10 on Monday. Then they beat Valley 19-4 Wednesday and Democracy Prep on Friday 28-5.

Sunrise Mountain
The Miners played Monday against Valley and got a 14-6 win. They beat Democracy prep 24-9 on Tuesday then beat Mountain View 21-3 Friday. They lost to Lake Mead on Friday 6-5.

Virgin Valley
The Bulldogs are 4-6 overall this season. Last week they beat Mojave 11-2, then Del Sol 17-5. They went on to beat Judge Memorial 20-9 before a big loss to Emery Utah 22-2. Northridge beat the Dawgs 10-1 followed by Millard beating Virgin Valley 19-1. Dixie ended the week with a 13-3 win over Virgin Valley.

3A Softball-Sunset
Del Sol
The Dragons lost to Desert Pines 18-16 last week. The Jaguars scored 6 runs in the first then ended the game with 7 runs for the win. They are 1-5 overall this year.

Pahrump Valley
The Trojans beat Green Canyon in the first game of the March Warm-up with 12-0 win. They played Davis in the second game Friday and lost 13-2, Next was a loss to Desert Hills 7-6; followed by another loss to Carbon, Utah 14-8. The Trojans are 8-4 this year.
