BEX held its official grand opening on Friday, Mar. 15, at a newly refurbished store located at 3001 N Moapa Valley Blvd across the highway from the Logandale Post Office.

The event started at 11 a.m. and was scheduled to end at 3 p.m. but was extended due to the large number of attending guests.

“This is an exciting day,” said Steven Jensen, Marketing Director for BEX Sunglasses.
The store was welcomed by many new customers and staff of BEX as attendees admired the sleek and chic setup that included BEX lines of sunglasses, shirts, hats and even socks.

BEX owner Jason Adams said that it was a long time coming to get the business to this stage of operation. He recalled previously working construction in Utah and having a taste for sunglasses.
“Ten years ago, I started BEX with no knowledge of the production of sunglasses,” he said.

Adams said that he had done many hours of research and had even taken trips to China to look into manufacturing facilities.

Eventually, with support from Adams’ family, BEX Sunglasses was born. In 2008, the company started in Las Vegas. The enterprise was eventually moved briefly to Logandale in 2011. But went back into Vegas in 2012.

Adam’s wife, Haley, said that it has been fun and challenging over the years. “There were times that were hard but it has been really fun to watch the company become what it is today,” she said.

Both Jensen and Adams were excited about how the company has grown. Especially exciting is seeing their product be carried in some national brand stores such as Big Bass Pro Shops.

Even so, the two are determined not to allow the boutique brand become too big. They said they like the idea of keeping a small community-based company that provides top quality products.

They were also excited to announce a new line of hunting apparel which will be coming out this fall. The company will also soon be releasing a line of BEX optical prescription frames.

Last week’s grand opening event included free food such as hamburgers and hot dogs. There was also a photo booth where guests were able to get photos taken with BEX products and could potentially end up being the “model” for a BEX advertisement or catalog.

Promotions at the event included a chance to win side by side ATVs and 40 percent off all products for the event.

When asked what made BEX better than other sunglasses, many attendees at the event who are BEX customers replied with multiple praises. Alexandria Perkins said they are comfortable and durable. Yolanda Scronce said the company stands behind its product. She also pointed out that BEX has been great in supporting the community.

The event also had live music performed by country star Scotty Alexander of Las Vegas. Alexander has performed with Wayne Newton and is a local favorite who is upcoming in the country music industry.

Alexander said he became a fan of BEX when he bought a BEX hat from Boot Barn. He was later contacted by Adams to form a partnership. BEX now officially backs Alexander, his music and products.

Adams and Jensen expressed gratitude to the Moapa Valley residents for their support and help. The BEX store will be open in Logandale on weekdays 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
