A giant tooth, celebrating Valley Pediatric Dental, floats over Mesquite Blvd during the Mesquite Days Parade on Saturday morning.

The fourth day of the annual Mesquite Days festivities kicked-off at 7 am on Saturday, May 4 with the 2019 Mayor’s Breakfast.

The breakfast was served to about 500 residents and visitors, according to Nick Montoya, Director of Mesquite Parks & Recreation.

Several volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints displayed great skill at flipping pancakes and cooking sausage for about two-hour period at Family Heritage Park.

Attendees gathered on a beautiful sunny morning to exchange greetings, enjoy breakfast in the park and chat with other attendees, including members of the Mesquite City Council.

From about 8:30 am, the adjacent parking lot became a staging area for the Mesquite Days Parade which was to follow. The area began to fill-up with parade participants plus their floats and other vehicles.

A super-sized, air-filled “tooth,” which was part of the Valley Pediatric Dental parade entry float, could be seen throughout the staging area. Other unique and colorful floats included those from the Eureka Casino & Resort, Mesquite Christian Academy and the Salvation Army.

The pre-assembly of parade participants was facilitated with numbered spaces in the staging area reaching to #48.

At just after 10:00 am, the parade commenced from the intersection of Arrowhead Lane and Mesquite Boulevard. The procession was led grandly by the new fire engine from the Mesquite Fire & Rescue Department.

Mesquite residents and visitors lined both sides of Mesquite Boulevard to view the parade. Kids collected the candy being distributed by many of the parade participants along the route.

Parade entries were each publicly-announced by David Anderson as they passed City Hall, before turning left at Willow Street to conclude at about 10:45 am.
