The Moapa Library hosted a magic show for kids on Saturday, June 7. Children could come watch, wonder and even participate in some of the magic tricks at the show. Magician/comedian Adam London traveled from Las Vegas where he has his daily show at The D casino. His Moapa performance amazed and amused the local kids.

The show started out with London entertaining the kids with the “Invisible Deck of Cards” which soon became the “Visible Deck of Cards”.

He proceeded on to his next trick which needed the assistance of some audience members. He called Talon and Jace Newsome to assist as he walked them through it.

London called it “one of the first Houdini tricks ever done”. It involved a chair, metal chain and a lock with multiple keys, only one of them being right. The younger Newsome brother then went and wrapped his brother up in the chain. It took a lot of trust on older brother Talon’s part.

“I was gonna be so mad if I was stuck in that chair just because Jace picked the wrong key,” Talon said.
Luckily for Talon, Jace guessed the right key.

One thing that London was wonderful at was making sure the kids had a good time. He brought siblings up and even got parents involved in some of the tricks.

London talked about his history and how he got into magic. He is a second generation magician and iis currently teaching his eight-year-old son his tricks so that the secrets can be passed down.

For his last trick, London had a boy from the audience, who was the same age as his son, come up and stand as people at random picked a number, a letter and a flag from one of the countries in the world. London wrote these items down on Post-it notes and placed them on the boy’s chest and in the palms of his hands. He then went to show a picture that his son had drawn for him that morning which contained the exact same elements.

There was a huge turn out of people for this third show that London has performed for the kids of the valley.

When asked why London continues to return to the small Moapa library year after year, he said, “I love the atmosphere here and the kids are always so great to work with in the show.”

The staff at the Moapa Library is excited for their summer schedule full of fun and entertaining activities and hopes that the public will join them.
