A new business is in town to help and serve the local community. Ruff Rentals and Backhoe Services LLC, owned and operated by Jeremy and Sara Ruff is a small and heavy equipment company available for both commercial and private customers.
After opening earlier this year, the small heavy equipment rental company located at True Value in Overton has steadily been gaining traction.
“We’ve been getting busier and busier every week,” Jeremy Ruff said.
Ruff Rentals has a mini excavator, skid steer to rent by the hour for any project.
Jeremy and Sara are both longtime Moapa Valley residents who attended middle school and high school, and are now raising their four children, here in the community.
They began Ruff Rentals after buying property in Duck Creek, Utah last year. They met up with incredibly high rental fees for small equipment to improve their property. So they decided to start their own company to serve land and property owners and construction contractors themselves.
“Owning our own business has been great,” Ruff said. “We love spending time together as a family when we need to and not having a set schedule.”
Ruff Rentals also has equipment both in Duck Creek and Overton. So being able to “head north out of the heat is a great bonus,” Sara said.
The biggest challenge of owning a business so far for the Ruff’s is “advertising and getting the word out.”
Two pieces of equipment are currently located here in Overton for rent. By end of October and early November they will have four for local renters to choose from.
“True Value is letting us store our equipment there and Randy Tobler (True Value owner) has been great helping us start out,” Ruff said. “They can be used for all different kinds of projects. This year has been a big weed removal year because of all the water we’ve received, and a little bit of everything from new home projects and landscaping.”
Sara and Jeremy both love the Moapa Valley and appreciate all of the support they’ve received thus far. They are happy to give back and provide the service locally.
“We especially want to thank all of the local contractors for using us and giving us so much support,” Jeremy said.
Ruff Rentals offers their service as far north as Duck Creek and as south as Pahrump, NV.
