Officials from the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will be holding a pair of public workshops in the Moapa Valley community on Tuesday, October 22. The first will take place in the Overton Community Center at 10:00 am that morning. The second will be held later in the evening at the Moapa Rec Center at 6:00 pm.
The workshops are being held in response to a host of needs that have been raised by community members regarding state highways, according to a statement released last week by the office of County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick’s staff was instrumental in arranging the set of meetings.
“There have been many topics of discussion which have been brought to our office staff,” said the statement. “As an attempt to work towards solutions, our office has partnered with NDOT staff to begin discussions.”
Topics for those discussions include requests for crosswalks, a flashing light for a crosswalk at Whipple and S.H. 169, golf cart/OHV friendly routes in downtown Overton, a climbing lane on the way out of Logandale, an guard rail at the Yamashita Bridge, turn lanes along S.H. 169, a 24 inch shoulder on Coyote Springs junction, reconfiguring the exit 91 interchange in Moapa and more.
