A 2015 Moapa Valley High School graduate was awarded a first place scholarship by the Nevada Security Association (NSA), a chartered chapter of the Electronic Security Association (ESA).
Logandale youth Tahnee German was awarded the first place scholarship in the amount of $2,000 by the organization.

German plans to attend Brigham Young University-Provo in the fall. She was one of many qualified applicants to enter the contest, according to NSA officials.

German has an outstanding academic and community record. She was one of eight valedictorians of her class, received a varsity letter for volleyball, volunteered for community flood clean-up, a local senior center, helps with special needs students, holds leadership roles and volunteers at her church, works babysitting a special needs child and as a lifeguard for Clark County Aquatics all while maintaining a 4.7 GPA.

Tahnee’s father is Fire Captain Glen German of the Clark County Fire Department Station 31.
A second place NSA scholarship was also awarded to Basic High School graduate Morgan Meyer in the amount of $1,500.

The association’s scholarship program recognizes the academic and community achievements of the children of area police officers and fire fighters.
“I am particularly excited about our scholarship program,” said NSA President Greg Simmons. “As an industry, we want to give back to the police and fire communities for their hard work and dedication.

The scholarship program is a small way for us to say, ‘Thanks and a job well done.’ The true reward comes when you realize that your association and your industry are helping a deserving student pay for their education.”
