After more than 30 years in business in downtown Overton, True Value/Home Hardware is holding a Grand Re-Opening Event this weekend to celebrate some major updates to the store. The event will begin on Thursday, March 10 and run through Saturday, March 12. And there will be plenty of reasons for shoppers to visit the store to see what is new.
Store owner/manager Randy Tobler said that, after all that time in business, the store felt like it needed a big change.
“We had never really done a complete remodel of the store,” Tobler said. “So we decided that it was time.”
Tobler and his team have been hard at work since last fall in the the layout of the 15,000 sq ft store. They have enhanced and modernized displays and expanded inventory; all while widening the aisles and giving the impression of much more space.
Tobler said that the reformatted store now offers about 35 percent more inventory than before.
“It was a big process just determining what products to carry, and which existing ones to scale back on,” Tobler said.
True Value professionals gave some assistance in that process. But the main input was from customers, Tobler said.
“We had been listening to customers a lot; getting feedback from them on the stuff that they wished we would carry,” Tobler said. “Plus we have some fantastic employees on staff here that gave us input on where we could improve. They are great and they care a lot about the store and our customers.”
One major new product line being offered at Home Hardware is Stihl power equipment. The store now sports a huge new display including Stihl chain saws, woodwork tools, blowers and more.
In addition, the store has expanded its offerings in a fully updated Paint Center, increased electrical inventory, additional plumbing equipment, and a much bigger pet section.
The Garden Center in back of the store has 2,000 sq ft of gardening necessities, including fertilizers, potting soils, mulch, vegetable starts, flowers and trees. And a shipment of new spring chicks has recently arrived in stock.
“The feedback we have received from customers has been positive as we have been working through the changes,” Tobler said. “We know that it has been a bit of an inconvenience. But people have said that they like the more open feel and have noticed that we have a lot more product on the shelves. Generally people have been glad that we are carrying more.”
In celebration of the Grand Re-Opening, the store will be holding some special sales and featuring a number of great giveaways.
The Paint Center is offering a “buy one, get one free” sale on EasyCare and WeatherAll paints with coupon found in this edition. Another coupon offer is found in the pet department where the popular Blue Buffalo brand dog food will be on sale for $10 off.
During the event, customers can purchase a five gallon bucket for $1 and then get 20 percent off of all regularly priced items that they can fit inside the bucket.
Customers can also enter their names in drawings for a whole host of giveaways including a Weber Gas Grill, a 7 piece patio set, a gas pressure washer, a Weed Eater gas line trimmer and a 22 inch self-propelled mower.
