New OB/GYN Joins Staff At Mesa View

Mesa View Regional Hospital in Mesquite recently welcomed Stephanie Nainani, MD, as an independent member of the medical staff. Dr. Nainani is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

With the addition of Nainani to its staff, the hospital has restored 24 hour OB-GYN coverage for the communities of northeastern Clark County.
“I think that is a pretty big deal,” Nainani said in a recent interview with the PROGRESS. “I mean, I am talking to patients that go from Moapa Valley all the way to St. George to deliver their babies. That just isn’t real safe.”

Nainani is an experienced physician and surgeon. She grew up in the coastal community of St. John, New Brunswick in eastern Canada. She obtained a masters degree in Biochemistry from Loma Linda University in California, where she also earned her Doctorate in Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. Since then she has practiced in various places for the past 15 years. She has moved to Mesquite from the Las Vegas area.

Nainani said that she is happy to have landed in the small town of Mesquite. “I like the feel of this community,” she said. “I am more of a small town girl. Though Las Vegas is exciting and has a lot of amenities, Mesquite is really more my style.”

It stands to reason, then, that Nainani prefers practicing medicine on a smaller scale as well. She said that she has also enjoyed her time providing care in large cities, because the human interactions were wonderful. It sometimes felt a bit empty, however, because she often would never see those patients again, she said.
“In a large city you’re just one in a million OB/GYNs out there,” Nainani said. “So if I am not there to deliver that baby, someone else will just step right in and do it. It is so different in a smaller town practice where you get to deliver the second and third babies in the same household.”

Time spent with a patient is valuable to Nainani. She said that she enjoys talking to patients and is genuinely interested in their lives. “I love connecting with people,” she said. “My philosophy is to listen to people the way I would expect someone to listen to a loved one. That kind of a relationship seems so much more normal and organic when you are talking about something as personal as OB/GYN care.”

Nainani provides a full range of obstetric care including prenatal and delivery. With more than a decade of experience in obstetric and gynecologic medicine, she performs major and minor surgery, laparoscopic hysterectomy and other procedures as well as minimally invasive gynecology.

When she is not seeing patients, Nainani enjoys spending time with her husband and two lovely girls, especially in the outdoors. She is an avid mountain biker and hiker.
