Boulevard Buys Stage Stores Building

By VERNON ROBISON

The Progress

A large retail property which has been vacant in Mesquite for several months, is going to be occupied again soon. The empty building which once was home to Stage Stores was purchased last week by St. George-based Boulevard Home Furnishings.

The large regional furniture store plans to move its Mesquite location, from the current space on the corner of Falcon Ridge Pkwy and Pioneer Blvd, to the larger building just north of it.

With a 25,000 square feet showroom space, the new location will effectively double the current store’s offering, said Boulevard’s Chief Marketing Officer Tyler Wittwer.
“It gives us a lot of options to improve the experience and better serve our Mesquite customers,” Wittwer said.

The building will undergo some renovation in the next few months to transform it into a Boulevard Furniture Showroom. If all goes according to schedule the new location is expected to open in the spring of next year, Wittwer said.

Boulevard Furniture has had a store in Mesquite for nearly 18 years now. It has been in its current location since February of 2014.

“Mesquite has been a great place to do business and the current location has been a good store,” Wittwer said. “We wouldn’t be expanding if it had not done well there. We certainly appreciate all of our customers in that area.”

Several years ago, Boulevard purchased the empty lot directly across Pioneer Blvd to the south of the current location. There were plans of constructing their own building there. But the company has held off on those plans since then.

“Thus far, a new construction there just hasn’t made sense,” Wittwer said. “Renovation of this existing building makes more sense to us right now. But there may still come a time when we build on that property someday.”

In the meantime, the company is already working on plans to bring a new look and feel to the former Stage Store property.
“It is early yet and we don’t have any renderings ready for release of what it will look like,” Wittwer said. “But we have some ideas.”

“We are excited to be able to provide a larger showroom and a better shopping experience for the folks down there,” Wittwer concluded.
