The Progress
The plans for COVID-19 vaccines have been changing quickly in the past few days.
According to Moapa Valley Fire District (MVFD) Chief Steven Neel, the drive-thru vaccination clinic which was planned for Saturday, Jan 23 at the Clark County Fairgrounds parking lot had to be cancelled. It will not be taking place.
“It has really been a pretty fluid situation and the logistics were just not in place to make that one happen,” Neel said of the Saturday plans. “So unfortunately we had to push it back a couple of days.”
The vaccination clinic which had been planned for Monday, Jan. 25 at the Overton Senior Center parking lot will still be taking place, Neel said. This drive-thru clinic will begin at 9 am and will continue until 3 pm or until all doses made available have been given.
The Overton Senior Center is located at 325 N. Cooper Street in Overton.
This clinic will be conducted on a first come, first served basis only. No reservations or advanced appointments will be available.
The clinic is for Tier I residents of Moapa Valley only. Neel explained that, as far as he knew, vaccinations have already been completed for all medical personnel, emergency response and public safety officers in the Moapa Valley communities. So the upcoming clinics will be focused only on members of the public who are 70 and older.
Those who come to the local clinics for vaccinations will be required to show proof of age as well as proof of Moapa Valley residency, Neel said.
A second vaccination clinic is planned for Monday, Feb. 1, also at the Senior Center beginning at 9 am. This clinic will also be a first come, first served clinic.
“That is all that we have planned for vaccinations here at this point,” Neel said. “But as we go, we will continue to evaluate the need in the community and monitor the supplies that are made available to us. Based on that we may plan other clinics.”

Please advise me if myself and my employees are eligible to receive the vaccine, we are exposed to the elderly and go into many family homes on a daily basis.
