Swap Meet To Be Held This Weekend/Vendors Wanted

Agave Storage Plus in Mesquite will be hosting another community Swap Meet this weekend. Both buyers and sellers are welcome with all proceeds going to Virgin Valley Food Bank.

Agave Limited and Meridian Electric are two local companies giving back to their community, by hosting a Swap Meet this Saturday and Sunday, February 27 and 28. All proceeds from the Swap Meet will go to help the Virgin Valley Community Food Bank.

The swap meet will be held at Agave Storage Plus, 800 Agave Rd. in Mesquite.

Vendors will be able to set up their displays beginning at 7:30am each day. The swap meet will then open to the public at 9 am and continue until 3 pm.

A similar event was held at the site on February 13. It was so successful that the hosts wanted to ramp things up and raise the bar for donations to the Food Bank.

Guy Pompa of Agave Storage Plus said he intended to have a hot dog meal, with chips and water, for sale at $4. But he instead purchased those himself and gave the meals away for free to attract buyers.
“The food bank said it was the best drive they ever had and it got rained out!” Pompa added. “I hope this one will be even bigger and better.”

All members of the public are welcome, both sellers and buyers. The Swap Meet will be open to all kinds of sellers. “This could include antiques, crafts, honey, produce, art, photography and just anything people would like to sell,” Pompa said.

There is plenty of room to sell ATVs and UTVs as well.

The cost for renting a vendor space at the event is $25. All of the vendor proceeds will be donated to the Food Bank.

The entry fee for buyers attending the swap meet will be a donation of four non-perishable food items. These will be collected by volunteers at the gate. All food collected will go to the Food Bank.

A hotdog food truck will be onsite from 11:30 am-1:30 pm. A donation of $4 will get consumers a hotdog, chips and water.
